Sleep away the memories
it was just a dream
the blur of salt and water mix
wake up wake up
you willed yourself to sleep
your breath got slow
your heart got cold
but no one’s hand was there to hold
gentle vibrations at your feet
were willing you to go to sleep
no one sang a lullaby
you laid and stared, your tears ran dry
swirling, swimming around your head
as you laid so still in bed
drifted, floated and rocked away
putting memories far at bay
closed your eyes
and closed your mind
closed this chapter at this time
don’t think, just do, no consequence
