life help: i think im depressed. - Help.com

i think im depressed.

my life has been really crappy for 3 weeks now and i think im about to be dumped by my girlfriend. i dont really know how im going to deal with it. anyone have any ideas on how i might brace my self for it… or ways for me to become happy???

I was depressed for almost a year last year when it seemed like nothing was going my way or if it was i would just get upset and feel empty for no reason. I know from experience that this is what helps: a good diet and exercise, being outside, and most of all, surrounding yourself with friends and family and being grateful for every single thing you have. Thinking too much or trying too hard to be happy does not work, I’m sure of this. If you just live your life, and spend time with people that make you happy, you will become happy when you least expect it.

Listening to sad music doesnt help but making a list or writing down whatever is bothering me on a post-it helps alot because it makes my life feel organized, and makes it seem like I have such few problems if they all fit on one post-it. But thats just me, I dont know about other people. I hope this helps!
