Blind date?

My Aunt’s friend who I have met a few times wants to set me up with one of her former students who she has stayed in touch with. She thinks that we would get along well and thinks we should meet. The girl goes to a different college but it’s only 20 minutes away, so that is not much of a problem, but I don’t know how to initiate it. I am a quiet guy and I haven’t had much luck with getting dates, but I’m working on changing that. I have her phone number and email address but I don’t know how to setup a date of some kind. I feel like if I called her I would say something stupid or get too nervous so I’m thinking of emailing her. What should I say in the email? and any other advice?

This poor person needs our help. Why are you attacking s/he based on some randomness?

To the original poster:

Go with your instincts. At the end of the day, you’ll be dating this woman so we can’t coach you through the initial stages of it. If you’re clumsy, inexperienced, or just plain awkward, she needs to see you for who you truly are.

Good luck.

:-)

Well, it’s not worth the stress either way. You seem like a nice person from what I’ve been reading, you should try to be more carefree about this troll business.

sorry but trolling is what brings sites such as this down in the end. And I dont want that to happen here b/c it does help people. and many others are worse to the people they think our trolls then I am. But look at this persons posts this evening they dont even continue the convo they post and then post something else. Not even getting the help they looked for in the first place. Thus this person is a troll.

I see your point. I’m fairly new to this so I don’t really care if I’ve wasted my words on some random troll. However, I can only imagine after the 60th time, it would irritate me a bit. On the other hand, you should consider that on sites such as this one, people are prone to random attacks. I’m not saying that feelings should be coddled, but it’s easier to find someone and bully them if they are associated with a profile/picture/etc. That is my unfortunate experience on the net. With that said, I will take the night to consider removing my second layer, now that I’ve been presented with a very reasonable argument.

Oh well here if someone bullies or is just mean and unhelpful they will get banned. Their account will be deleted as well as their responses. and people will defend posters if others start being mean. Not to say it doesnt happen. But those of us that are here often will either report them, or an MOD will take care of it without anyone saying anything.
so if you ever feel you are being bullied the little red flag will report it. just so you know if case you need too
