How computer savvy are you?
Okay, so I have a computer at home which has been only been on-line maybe three times since I bought two years ago. The memory in the Recovery section D: of My Computer started to red-line. I tried to free up some memory on it, but for some reason or other the function wouldn’t execute. Soooooo. . . I gave it the ‘ol quick format job - oh yeah . . .that freed up some memory alright. Now, my computer no longer automatically performs a back-ups to that area.
Alright. So, my PC needed serious up-dating and I was able to get it on-line for about the fouth time in its life,(I’m on it right now). Many of the updates did occurr - many more did not and I basically imagine that is part-and-parcel due to the lack of operability in Recovery D:.
Now, when I right click onto Recovery D:, there is a feature that says “restore driver defaults” (YAY!)
However when I click onto it I get (basically) two notices. The first one says: “Quit disk utilities or other programs that are using this drive and make sure that no window is displaying the contence of this drive then try again.” The second notice says: “Volume in use by another process.”
Alright, I shut down all programs that were running and etc and did it again. Again, the same notices popped up. It made me wonder what hidden programs were running, that I didn’t see. How do I see them?
I believe this is stopping my windows up-date from updating. I’ve searched the net for solutions to this multi-angle problem, but. . . .Arrrrghhhhhhh!!
Advice?
