I think Oxycontin is related to morphine. So basically you’re in about the same shape as heroin withdrawels.
I know they’re bad, but they don’t last forever, so don’t do anything dumb. And don’t take anything else.
Im not taking anything I have been sober from it for three days now, all I have been drinking and eating is soup and crackers to help my stomach, but its not even the physical withdrawls that are the worst its the thoughts im having, words cant even describe to you how I am feeling/thinking…it feels like im so along lost in darkness even when people are there..I just want to be normal again…i will do whatever it takes.
Didn’t your doctor tell you how to deal with the withdrawl? Just contact the office.
Yeah that was a long time ago like I said I ended up getting more from a friend i kno it was stupid but once your on this you wouldnt kno how addicted it can be, Im afraid to tell anyone cause I dont want to get in trouble or my family to be upset with me, I want to try to do this on my own but I just need some advice or help or someone to talk to its horrible its like dying.
Okay; the worst of it lasts about a week. But after that you may still have a few symptoms that come back for several months.
You may want to seek medical help to detoxify and help you deal with the underlying addiction. Like heroin, simply quitting isn’t really good enough; as the addiction can continue even after you’ve gotten the drug completely out of your system. And an addiction can come back full-force at any time. You have to learn how to deal with it if that happens.
Any doctor can refer you to a program to help with both the initial detox and the addiction.

You don’t have to tell anyone. I agree with dragon lady, just go to your doctor.
Honestly, your family being upset with you is really the least of your worries right now. The best thing would be to see your doctor, then enlist your family’s help with this. Morphine addictions ruin whole lives. The more support you have and the more people who know and can help you with it the better your chances for managing it over the long term.
dood I have been on so many tablets as strong as that its unreal. The come down is awful.
What worked for me, Is I made a 2 lists. A “work” list and a “home” list. Basically its LOADS of distractions, which is what you need right now.
For example, my “work” list had little things on like go and make a cup of tea for everyone, go for a walk to the photo copier (it was ages away). Email a friend, find a funny picture and email it to someone.
My “home” list had stuff on like, take a cold shower, have a relaxing bath, put my ipod on, watch tv.
You need to be constantly distracted, as for the physical side - try and eat stuff thats really good for you - eat loads of fruit and veg, even if you think your overeating. It does help! Its like comfort food, however you really need the nutrition you can get from this food. Drink loads of water and fruit juices too and snack on yummy things with a decent amount of sugar in, like chocolate! Chocolate will also release the endorphins into your body to make you feel happier.
Stay away from booze and **** and even though your eating loads try to eat as healthily as you can. You’ll get through this and soon :)
Oh and of course the most obvious point! Come on help.com often and use the www.help.com/chat - chat room!!

yes if you go to your doctor simply ask him to keep it confidential.
He is required by law to do so.
So don’t worry and get help.
There would certainly be some medication that would make it easier for
you.Do seek help.
You have done 3 days already well done, you are nearly there just hold tight!!
Hello,
I am sad to hear you are having a difficult time coming off the drugs, it is hard to go cold-turkey, but I am sure you have the will power to control it. My best advice I can give is to listen to my friend Raver

I understand what you are feeling. There’s just know way to describe that kind of pain to people who do not know it. I feel like you are going to be strong and refrain from doing Oxy, but if you can’t do it on your own they have a drug called Suboxone that take away the withdrawls and makes you feel the most normal you can. I tried to do it with suboxone, but that method could not work for me, I had to go through the pain so that I would be able to remember why I quit and stay away from that horror. You could eat some chocolate to help your mood. If you have only done it a couple months then the withdrawls should be gone within a week. I made the mistake of doing it for 2 year and I know it took longer than a week to get over withdrawls and it has taken 2 years to recover from the depression, but if you get out now you should be fine. I wish I would of known what addiction was when I was addicted. Try and take some Tums for your stomach this always helped me. Watch something on tv that will stimulate your mind, like if you like the History Channel, I would watch something that just keeps your brain active and it helps you forget what you are going through. I hope that you feel better and it will be okay you have to stay away.

Aww Anon, don’t feel bad - you are normal thats the problem ;)
Everything that is happening to you is normal, lets face it. If you can take a pill to take away the pain why would we initially say no? Unfortunately there are so many tablets out there that give such a bad effect and are so addictive. Its hard enough trying to convince your own mind you don’t need them, then your body goes and makes you feel like crap - as if you didn’t need that extra kick in the A**.
Seriously, don’t feel bad. You made the right decision coming off them - now it is unlikely but if you are still feeling just as bad or worse in 4/5 days go to your GP. If the pain becomes unbearable and you can’t cope, go straight to A&E, chances are they’ll put you on a drip to help your body come of this easier. However the stories i’ve heard mention that although its a terrible come down, it doesn’t last too long.

Thank you for all your help everyone, it really means alot. Im not in pain anymore though , Just mentally from these pills Im tired of feeling tired my stomach feels like its boiling inside out, all i can think about was how my life used to be before i took them. This is a horrible drug and I’ll never touch it again.
but for all of you who have been on it and came off it you kno what hell feels like..
yup, youre smack bang in the middle of withdrawel im afraid.
let me guess, youve also got this panicky feeling in your gut, coz you dont have any pills around? and you think that just having them around, not even taking them, will make you feel better?
well, it will. taking more drugs is going to fix that worse than death feeling youve got goin on.
But you and i both know, that that is a one way road to nowherefastville, on the highway to earlydeathstown.
i do know how you feel. and i know how ******* suckful it is, and how much it hurts, and how getting through it is mega ultra impossible seeming.
the plain facts are, there is no easy way through it. trial by fire is the only way.
the best advice i can give you, is to take it slowly.
day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute, step by step. take it one moment at a time, and the moments quickly add up to hours and days and weeks.
you CAN do this, your body CAN take it.
the only thing stopping you is your mind.
Kia kaha.
