An original poem: I’ll Live
I let out my feelings… and how much I care.
Why do I dare?
I write my misery out on paper.
My pen runs dry of its ink…
And all I think…
Is you, your name, and what to write next.
I write meaningless words…
And obviously, for nothing.
But I do it for something…
You.
And you show me you don’t need me anyway…
I see how you’re living.
Fine without me.
I see.
I now know what they mean…
When they say you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone.
I’ve realized that feelings can’t be tamed.
At least, mine…
And they can’t be named.
Because one minute, I’m happy.
I think I’ll be able to live…
And the next…
I’m depressed.
From nowhere, a darkness hovers above me.
It won’t leave me.
Then I can’t see…
What lies beneath me.
It’s the ground, obviously.
But it’s not a ground that I walk on.
It’s a different world I live in.
A world where I’m by myself.
I’m used to it now.
I don’t know how…
But I’ve learned to live.
Somehow…
I don’t know how…
But I’ve seen the light.
And the best place for me…
Is not here…
But far away from this dreadful place.
It’s a disgrace…
To see my own face in the mirror.
I stand alone.
Alone.
Nobody is behind me…
I can’t see any longer…
The reflection isn’t reality.
It’s become far less than anything.
I don’t know when…
But one day, I’ll resume living.
Whether it be tomorrow…
Or the day after.
I can’t relive in sorrow, I know.
So I’ll try to stay strong.
My life has seen many screw-ups…
And it’s time to move on.
It was the past…
And I’ll live in the present while it lasts.
While I still have the time to be young…
I won’t let past memories keep me from growing.
I’ll end up showing you you’ve made a mistake.
You don’t know what you’re missing…
But I do.
Someone who…
Would have been there for you.
But that’s fine.
It’s time…
To step out from behind the glass.
To take another step forward…
And to appreciate the moments…
While they last.
