Oh wow! I have to respond cuz I so totally agree with you on this issue. As Americans, we get denied many things yet we turn around only to see an illegal alien getting what we were denied. Burns me up inside. Last 2 years in my state, we had to pass petitions around cuz our “representatives” who are “supposed” to uphold our rights as americans and legal citizens wanted to make our state language Spanish cuz there are so many of them here. If they want to live in American then they can learn English just like other immigrants who come here legally do. Just like other native born Americans, I fought this issue & twice now we’ve managed to kill it. I like your post

i disagree with both…
i believe that if the illegals were gone, others would take thier place, just like they took others places when they decided to come over and work…
and what happens when an illegal hits u with a car?
one, it’s probably a piece of junk anyway, they cant get financed like legal people can so money for car has to come out of pocket… and what about insurance? i’ve worked with several illegals, and those that i asked, either didnt have insurance or even a driver’s license… OR BOTH!!!
not to mention the illegals dont pay taxes, so that means those of us that do, have to pay for thier share as well…

besides, most of the ‘crap’ jobs are only that way becasue the illegals moved in and worked for less than minimum wage, making the amount people pay for someone to do that certian job less and less…it’s simple supply and demand…

though, being a hypocrit, i’d say i feel for them as well, yeah, there’s a reason why they want to live here, and it’s not easy once over here, but that doesnt make up for the wrong…

if a guy steals that’s bad right? no question?
if a guy steals for his starving family that’s ok? no… it’s still stealing, a true man would find the honorable path, not the easiest…

this is hard topic for me to be true to, my last girlfriend was an illegal from guatamala… even though i didnt know it till we were going out, i still feel the same.. two wrongs dont make a right and all that jazz, i tried talking her into becoming legal, there are ways…

Perhaps I misunderstood what she was saying. However, I still feel they way I wrote up above. I pay huge taxes in every year as did my parents. I see alot of what I work hard for go to undeserving people while senior citizens who need help and those with serious medical conditions can’t get help from our own American government programs. I worked for 2 years while in college for the Nat’l Kidney Foundation. It tied in with the ADA and other organizations who’s diseases cause kidney failure. A lot of elders were on dialysis waiting transplants & I got to know a lot of other people needing other transplants. Do you know how many can’t afford food/housing/gas to get & from dialysis/utilities cuz the cost of their meds was horrendous. They went to the gov’t for help but were denied. If they had a retirement fund or own a house or land, the gov’t saw that as an income and counted it as such & would say their income was over the limit. Alot of people with transplants wouldn’t take the full dose but would cut their pills in half/thirds/fourths trying to stretch them out. Out of my own pocket, I gave people gas money, I paid utility bills & bought groceries for families who couldn’t get help. I realized one day I can’t save the world, but it wasn’t fair. So when they brought illegal immigrants to us for help & we couldn’t help them cuz there weren’t legal, the gov’t took them and provided for them. Not for our elderly citizens but for those who weren’t even in this country legally. I have a problem with that scenario. I saw alot of this while I worked in the non-profit world, and it disgusted me. I’m an American and I’ll stand behind my government, but its wrong when we push aside our own citizens and deny them help but give that needed help to those who aren’t bothering to try and become a citizen and who aren’t even trying to learn the English language. I may be wrong in my feelings according to you Latigra, but I am entitled to my feelings just as you are to your own. I respect what you say and feel, but mine are different.

i live in a apartment.
the apartment has to take part of my rent to use towards taxes.
illegal immigrants are still renting somewhere so they are paying taxes.
they buy things from stores, so they are paying taxes and they are getting paid with checks and getting taxes taken out that they are not able to claim at the end of the year so that moeny stays with the government.
when it gets to the point that we need the jobs that illegal immigrants are doing, then i would have an issue with illegal immigration but i am not eagerly awaiting a phone call from mcdonalds for employment, are you?
Tapdancer, how would one bother to get citizenship if they aren’t entitled. immigrants know their chances of getting citizenship and wouldn’t even waste the money if they knew there was no chance.
at least they are not trying to dupe someone american into thinking that they love you (like some illegals do) and get married and get their papers because that is the only way that most people get their papers.

ON the other hand, i dont think that babies from illegal parents should be citizens. that’s gonna blow up in our faces one day. and i think that they should be paying a minimal amount per child to send their kids to school. i do believe that it is draining the school budgets. that’s just my opinion.
I am not sure what kind of goverment help we have given illegal aliens so you would have to be more detailed for me to see your point.

Just FYI…I am not sure what state you are from, but here in Oregon, if you pay rent…you are not paying taxes along with that rent. In Oregon, we do not have a sales tax, so no one here (including immigrants) are paying taxes through any purchases from stores either. Taxes are also not paid through paychecks since most illegal immigrants claim exempt, so they receive all the money in their paychecks–it does not go to the government. Here, taxes are paid through property taxes, which if you are illegal you wouldn’t have property, so they don’t pay through that way. I think what she means by us helping them, is that our school systems are shutting down and going broke since we must pay for their education, special education, English as a second language classes and title one classes and they still bring down our SAT stats since they cannot read well and we must test them and add in their scores anyway. We pay their welfare services, free housing, food stamps, resources, you name it. Plus we pay when they get into accidents without having insurance which is a serious problem; we pay to keep them incarcerated for their crimes, we pay for the houses for humanity resources to provide them with free new homes and we pay for their babies……should I go on?

you can’t do that here.
they can claim kids and get more money but not expempt.

so the people that own apartment buildings don’t have to pay taxes on their property? and they also have to pay taxes on their earnings from rent. maybe they don’t there. but that way taxes are being made from them staying there.

I agree with you about the schools. that I wrote in my comments. here you absolutely can get no welfare. you can get help with a pregnancy clinic, that’s it. definitely not free housing, and less food stamps.
we don’t have incidences of people getting in accidents without insurance. and actually, not many immigrants even have licenses because NJ is one of the strictest states for that.

I am in agreement with some things and disagreement with others.don’t you think that all our prices would go up if it wasn’t for immigrant labor?
if there wasn’t a need for them in this country, our country would keep them out.
we don’t have the people to do this kind of work.
if prices went up any higher, i would really be drowning, i am already drowning as it is.

We are trying to keep them out. I believe there will be a 700 mile double-layered fence built on the U.S.-Mexico border soon. lol.
