Why is it…
that so many people come to Help.com and ask for money? Then get upset when given more local solutions (resources etc.) and not the actual money/items they were asking for?
I don’t know about anyone else, but I don’t walk around with pockets three feet deep to hold my fatty wallet full of cash.
Just thought I’d mention what I’m seeing…

More and more I find people just don’t want to work for a living, it’s to easy to hold out your hand and beg.
I am noticing that too…they must think people here are rich.
I have bad news for them. I am far from it. And for them to get snotty about being denied is incomprehensible.
IAMKM, unfortunately many people would rather suffer the pain of the lifetime they have created while blaming everyone else for their pain. They seem to think like a perpetual victim while telling themselves this is the easiest way. There are good, solid people that befall bad times occassionally but when you offer them local solutions they are grateful and seize the info and help themselves. When we offer local solutions and they come back with a huge list of excuses of how they already tried so hard and no one will give them the money they need, that is a clear sign that we are wasting our time, and they are wasting theirs, instead of using that time to better their lives.
Good post Candp, and I think I tend to agree will all of you. It’s a sad situation. Then you have these money lenders preying on them too to boot. I am starting to not even answer them…
A good example is: “I want a free house and car etc., tell me how” is a good one. Well, If I honestly know how to get that, I’d be having a free house and car myself!! Nothing is free anymore…they’ll probably even start charging us for the air we breath in a few hundred years…lol.
Probably right. lol! When they post with all the reasons why no one will rescue them from their dilemma’s and end it with, and don’t tell me I have to do this or that, that is when we keep right on going.
You too can be a Millionaire like myself, I can teach you the secret of success, for only $99.99, send cheque or money order now for fast results.

We think alot of what we are seeing today is a direct result of the changes that occured during the 60’s movement. The break up of the family unit and single moms who are guilty because they can’t spend enough time with their kids are creating generations of black holes that only know how to take. They see themselves as the center of the universe and all is put here to fulfill their needs and wants so they don’t have to turn their video games off.
Papa, how come you’re living in a cave if you are a millionaire? lol!
lol…oh, so true. I definitly buy that…
Plus it pays to know the “father of your baby” before deciding to have s*x (and children) for that matter. I am finding many single mom’s out there desperate for money who are 18 and in homeless shelters. Sad, since they don’t seem to ever mention birth control.
Yeah Papa….if you’re so filthy rich, you mind getting me a little dirty? lol
Statistics are showing that in the US 80% of households are buried in credit card debt. People can’t seem to live within their income. There children really need 130 pairs of jeans. That is a must do for every child or you are a rotten, no good parent.
The only reason we don’t pay for air is that they haven’t figured out how to deny it if we don’t pay.
We think you hit the nail right on the head Dancer!
How true Dancer…
I actually found that in a Star Wars book. I can’t remember which one, though.
Lmbo…we’ll good on ya for remebering the passage….

I would even help people on this site with money sometime, but none of them seem like they are willing to actually try and do something to help themselves. I found one lady when I first came here and she was looking for financial help and was willing to do any research or paperwork or whatever it took to give her kids a good Christmas. She was really sweet and I helped her and she kept in contact with me and just showed she was genuine and real and that she appreciated how I helped her. She’s the only one I’ve ever seen on here really willing to try and help herself. Usually I just ignore the people asking for money because they are just looking for easy cash.
I think you should give all of them some suggestions on how to get money by themselves; that way someone who is genuine doesn’t get written off as a slacker before they’re given a chance.
Papa Bear, where do I send my cheque so I can learn your secret of success? lol….sorry but I have the giggles today & I don’t like it when I get in this mood cuz when I read your reply several blocks above I couldn’t stop laughing. It hit my funny bone hard….Yes, I don’t like those guys who come on here with their loan ads cuz people who fall for them end up worse off than before.
If you see one, tell one of the mods, (ChuySkywalker, C.M. Theison, Erik) and they’ll take care of it.
Ok I will. I don’t mind helping people and I have, but its like kingdomcOm said, they have to be out there trying as well.
I’m glad I could help someone laugh and smile today :)
I could not believe that one guy on here trying to sell pages from his book, he want’s you to pay him $100USD and you can write a page in his book, and hey you get a t-shirt too, lol and, he guarantee’s the book will be around for 2 hundred years for all too see!
I know Papa Bear, I saw that. He posted it like 100 times!!! I guess you could never prove him wrong about the book being around 200 years though :)
Oh where can I buy one!, lol, or better yet, Can you lend me a copy I don’t have the money right now, but if I sit here long enough I can pay you on tuesday!
:]
Ummm…Papa Bear, I was wondering if you’d be interested in buying a page in MY book for $100USD payable to Tapdancer21. I’ll even send you & Mama Bear a t-shirt for free too plus MY book will be around for 300 years, I promise…..lol….Oh man, I haven’t seen that one yet. I’m studying tonight, but I don’t know…I can’t quit laughing at all this.
This site is a magnet for all types of people, now turn off your computer and go study!! Chat you later I got to go scrounge around for something to eat. Oh wait I have an Idea, hey can you spare some change for a coffee or something to eat?( No I’m not standing in front of a liquor store), lol
lmao
I don’t think you guys should make fun of other people’s posts, even if you think they are a waste of time.
I wasn’t making fun of the post. I was just sharing a laugh with Papa Bear cuz I’ve been hit up for money on here by the same guy several times. As serious as problems and issues are, having a laugh doesn’t mean you aren’t empathazing with the post. I feel bad cuz some of these people may take up with some of the people who advertise their loans on here out of their desperate need for money and end up losing more or being taken for more. Its hard to get out of that type of cycle once you’re in it. There are alot of people who come on here asking everyone for money, and some are vey legit and really want to know how to get help. Yet there are some who ask for money and aren’t doing anything about it to help themselves. I volunteer at homeless shelters, and I provide a full meal twice a month out of my own pocket. I’ve had to curtail that for awhile cuz I was hit by back taxes on income filed under my social security & that was my original reason for coming to this place. I needed to vent cuz I was so frustrated by the whole thing & the affect/impact it had on my life. The IRS took 3/4’s of my income and also put a levy on all my properties which have income/royalty payments coming off them. I got 3 months behind on everything & I was working a full time job plus I’m a full-time student. I sat down & I figured out a way to generate money & I found ways to make money. I took clothes I don’t wear anymore to a consignment shop. I made some little art prints and some jewelry and other craft things and went to flea markets when I could and sold things for money. I had food sales. I contacted people I know and a friend put an ad in the paper & I babysat & I cleaned people’s houses on weekends & I did their grocery shopping & even cooked some people meals. I ran their errands for them & I did typing on the side off my computer. I did anything & everything I could thnk of to make money to keep up with my own personal bills. But you can’t make money if you don’t utilize the brain power we all have & you cna’t generate an income if you don’t get up and get out and try. I went to my professers and co-workers and to anyone I knew and through all my contacts I found odd jobs. I didn’t care if I had to scrub toilets-it was a way to mske money til I got my situation resolved. So I wasn’t making fun. I’ve been there and did what I could. I’m sorry if my playing offended you. It wasn’t my intention to offend anyone.
It’s just that the writer of those 200-year posts has become a friend. I found a saying somewhere: In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.
I know, but where do you think the term “make fun of someone” came from? You’re using someone else as a source of entertainment. Maybe not in a negitive way, but you still are. And sometimes it’s okay, but you still need to think before you say anything.
Yes I know what you are saying, and again I humbly apologize, I was not trying to personally attack your friend.
It’s okay. But you may want to apologize to him as well. You don’t have to, but you can.
Well I just went to try and apologize to your friend at his shout box, and it appears he has been banned from the site. I guess what he was doing is frowned upon by the management. So if you happen to talk to your friend tell him, sorry for me, will you. I hope we can still be friends, and I’ll try to think before I type from now on.
Banned? He was banned before but they let him back on. Let me check…
Oh, you must have looked at his old profile. Here is his shoutbox:

Ok done, I hope you can accept my humble apologies and that we can remain friends
Papa
We’re still friends. You didn’t have to, but I’m glad you apologized to Shi.
I’m not sure what others intensions are, but when I posted my question I wasn’t looking for someone to open there pockets and just give me the money. I’ve done my own research and continue to do so constantly I’m just coming up to a dead end when it comes to finding grants. Everything that comes up on the internet you need to buy the information that will then help you locate the grants. I don’t have a problem buying something to get the information, my fear is that I will put on $40 here, $20 there and so on and end up being taken for every penny. I don’t have that kind of extra cash to simply be tossed away. I’m simply hoping someone out there can help me to locate the information - I’ll do the rest - I don’t have a problem working for something!
Mylilz,
You have honest intentions, but I found many who do expect money. What preempted this question is that a person was asking for (something, I forget). Then when giving them links to find help themselves, they said “links were not was I was expecting to get”. It does surprise me though…that many people asking for help or money do not realize how much help is out there in the form of their local resources. If I were about to be evicted from my home with three kids for example, my very first call would be to the housing department, human services, and local shelters. I don’t know…it just seems to me (in my own opinion) that I am seeing more people with their hand out and less willing to do what it takes to actively seek out resources. Don’t get me wrong, many people do sincerely need help, such as disabled people who cannot work etc., but there surely must be something that can be done in the way of a sedentary or work at home job if that’s what it takes to make the money to pay the bills. If they are off for that year on disability, it would be wise to use that time for online schooling and take out grants with fafsa if they must, to live on.
Well, I am rambling now…but I think you get my point, and from what I rea, you feel the same way. This is not to bash people asking for money, but to make them aware there are many options out there, but that they must actively seek them. I will say it was nice to hear a response from the other side of this coin too, and thanks–it does broaden my perspective.
