friends help: Do you think that Kashmir should be part of Pakistan or India? - Help.com

Those of us in the West don’t generally understand the issue, at least I don’t. What’s the history of it, and btw are you Pakistani or Indian?

I’m neither, I’m from the West as well. I also don’t really understand the issue, so I was asking here to hopefully gain a better understanding…I’m thinking that India is probably in better condition as a nation than Pakistan though, and that it would therefore be the better choice if it were to be annexed into either of them. Well, if you happen to figure anything out let me know:)

I don’t agree with Anon. I am a Pakistani. And I have experienced my country struggle for the Kashmiri cause. India took over Kashmir forcefully and every day we see pictures of brutality inflicted on Kashmiri people. Pakistan stands behind the free choice of Kashmiris to choose their own homeland. India does not give them that choice. Since 1947, Pakistan has struggled for a free Kashmir- from itself too, if that is what Kashmir wants. Kashmir is the source of almost all the water which flows in the five rivers of Pakistani Punjab. Without it, Pakistan would be a desert. It would be a most strategic move for India to keep Kashmir to itself, forever title Indian-Occupied Kashmir.
We may not be as economically strong as the Indians, but we stand for what is fair. Kashmir for the Kashmiris.
