yea. sometimes i am tired and just continue doing whatever I am doing. Seems like that must be a little different than insomnia, since I dont lay down and try to sleep.

I think we do this for one of three reasons: one, there is no one warm to curl up in bed with, two, our thoughts are refusing to let us sleep or three, our dreams are too disturbing to let us sleep. I only sleep good these days with someone warm next to me, which is actually harder to achieve than it sounds. As for cures, I haven’t found one besides him.

Actually you might have hit the nail on the head there, not having someone to snuggle up with really does suck. I hate being single. That and the fact i’ve just gone from full time to part time. So if someone can get me a great job and an even greater girly (bout 20- 23) that would be great! lol

I send her over right now. But for me, sleeping next to someone doesnt help or hurt. Everyone’s different though. I always have tendency to stay up late. Good luck with thte job sito.

Smell some peppermint- I know it sounds REALLY weird, but it helps you feel sleepy, plus it helps you get over a cramp or a stomach ache.

same.. its 2:50am now, and I find myself just messing around, wasting time, not getting anything done, and time will rush around.. like the past 3 or 4 hours just have! I’ve been doing things, but just messing on. If anyone would like to pay me for messing on and doing nothing, then feel free :) we can arrange an hourly fee!

Most of you people are to excited or pumped up to sleep. Iam that way sometimes. Read a book or watch a good love story on TV. Anything that will help.
If it is really bad see a Doctor for a light sleeping pill.

It always helps me to lie in my bed and just close my eyes and imagine I am floating. Or imagine you are lying on the floor of a boat. That usually sends me to sleep in seconds.

There is a story advocating “free running sleep” - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free-run…. According to it you shouldn’t worry whether you feel like going to sleep or not.

Very interesting. I am actually violating free running sleep:

“Another violation is staying awake past one’s accustomed bedtime in spite of drowsiness.”

I do that a lot. See that is a littel different than insomnia I think.

everyone does that. maybe computers emit weird stay-up vibes.
of course when your body’s awake long enough it goes into stage 2 of General Adaptation Syndrome (the resistance phase) so your body continues to function… (in the wild, if you were forcing yourself to stay awake, it would probably be because of a threat, right?), maintaining physical alertness even though your mind is tired.
if you really want to sleep and can’t, maybe chamomile tea, soothing music, valerian root (a mild sedative).another thing that works well for me, gross as it is, is basil tea. or homework!
