I think about this service, but not in a positive way.

I signed up for yet another CNET course, and come to find out I also “gave my permission” to have this lousy blog. This is unacceptable, and it does not end there!

I don’t want to have this blog, I cannot figure out how to cancel it [gone around the circle several times over two days], I did not ask for it, I resent being put out here, this blog system does not work properly in Opera as far as I can figure out requires IE which I don’t like to use.

These actions have lost what used to be a loyal reader and user, for many [unspecified here] years, of the CNET newsletters and coursework.

So here I am submitting a post, for all to read, trying to get the attention of “erik_k” who is “Help.com’s Most Helpful User” and models his behaviour after W. Clement Stone who just “wants to change the world.” Erik works for “CNET Networks, an Internet media company and the publisher of this site. Actually, I’m one of the folks behind Help.com, so please tell me what you”

Erik, ERIK, ERIK _what I want is this name blog and any other info linked to my email deleted from Help.com and CNET Networks_

You and CNET Networks might want to change the world, whatever that means, but I just want to get off your portion of it, if that can be done ;-)

Can you do this Erik?

Will you do this Erik?

My contact options are checked.

Hello world

I think C-net Help courses are a great idea but…I registered for two Help courses and after starting the second one I realize all my replies to assignments are being sent but are never posted to that days course replies. Whats wrong?
I can register for the courses but I finally cancelled out the last course because I just got frustrated because I couldn’t find a place which I could return a reply to c-net. Today I found this place. I don’t mind changing some of my settings but to remove all of them to make this work I’ll think twice.

Registration was a nightmare. Even though I have taken several coarses previously.

Somehow you registered me as”this is a screwed up mess” Thanks

Since I figured you can’t do any better I started the Budgetting Basics under your cute name for me.

But, The first thing I tried, Excel Tutorial, is BLOCKED because it is by an UNKNOWN Author.

Can you fix any of your mess?

Hi erik_k. I like the idea behind HELP.com Although not perfect, hopefully it can be one small step toward making this small spinning planet a better place to live. I pray that this happens.

Any chance of this site accepting html? I’ll get to work on deleting benthall’s billing statements and getting a eye lens for yncarlys. It’s the least I could do….

I am not Moofe; I do not know who this idiot Moofe is, except that he signed up using my email address and now I am getting spammed with help.com emails and answers to his idiot questions.

I’ve turned off email communications, but I’d really rather have this account deleted and never have to hear from help.com again. There’s no delete function, of course.

hi ‘Moofe’ - actually I had our developer turn off the incorrect email address yesterday, and you should not receive any more notifications to your email address for the ‘moofe’ account. I apologize for whatever someone may have done to cause this annoyance for you. We are putting software in place very soon to prevent this kind of thing from happening without a confirmation from the owner of the email address, like yourself, first. If for whatever reason you get another email (if someone is doing this maliciously) please contact me again at this post, and I will be sure have the issue addressed.

Hi Everyone,

Since this page is for Help.com feedback, I wanted to point out two URLs where you can go if you have a suggestion or need support for CNET’s online course and Learning CDs.

Suggestions page for CNET Online Courses and Learning CDs: http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-8_7-6515…

Although we can’t respond to everyone individually, we do read your suggestions to get an idea of what you want from CNET Online Courses and Learning CDs.

If you need help, visit CNET’s Customer Service Help Center: http://cnet.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/cnet…

We recently revised most of our online class support docs so that you should be able to find the latest answers. Plus, if you still have trouble, there’s a contact form where someone from Customer Support can help you. It’s a work in progress, but we appreciate your patience.

Thanks,
Jennifer Golden

i am simply trying to register with gamefaqs.com. the only link i can find to possibly help with this process is this one. it keeps telling me to confirm my email address. i have done so with no results. this has gone on for three days. i just keep getting the same request to confirm. cnet.com is gamefaqs.com “partner site” ?. I’ve copied and pasted to the address field. I used the “confirmation request” form or whatever it’s called. if you can”t tell I’m getting a little frustrated. can someone help me complete this registration?????????? (email removed)

it’s sort of hard to explain. I guess it’s partly because this site is for asking questions and giving answers, and yet it’s designed like a blog. Blogs are usually meant to be for general conversations, like discussing thoughts about a band’s new cd or something, rather than asking a specific question and getting a specific answer. So I think what would make this make a little more sense is if posts weren’t just called posts, they were distinguished between questions and answers. I know you’ve already done that to some extent, but I think it could be filtered out a little bit.
Another thing that would make this site more user-friendly is if there was a more personalized homepage. The regular homepage that people get the first time they see the site is pretty good, but I would like one that’s more specific to an individual’s user id. The page that comes up when I click on my username in the upper left hand corner is the same as what other people would see if they looked me up on this site. There should be a separate page that only the individual user can see. Some things it could have is an alert of new replies and a place where you can bookmark favorite conversations. That would make it convenient.
So those are my suggestions. I only first checked out this site yesterday, so part of the reason why it’s confusing to me is because I’m just new to it. You can’t learn everything about myspace or xanga in a day either. So, i guess, take everything I recommend with a grain of salt, maybe I’ll discover something new later and realize that something i suggested isn’t actually necessary or is already there. But one thing you could also improve is the “about help.com” section- a more specific, step-by-step guide for how to use the site. This site could be very useful. :)

You can start by adding a spell checker. And get rid of the TAGS. Most are of no use to the question being asked anyway. At least move them to a lower portion of the page. Underneath “Copyright 1995-2006 CNET Networks, Inc.” would be perfect.

I like the tags because it gets your questions all over the site. I’m dieing for a spell checker! Please! A profile with more then one picture would be great. I like the help.com main page it looks nice and you can get everyone’s questions without going to sex, love, life etc etc…. What are the other posters talking about money in the first part of this page??? Why did they have pay? What for? I’m not paying for anything I don’t know about am I? I love the emails by the way lets me know where to check without scanning everything. It’s fast and easy. I find this site easy to use and it’s came along way since I’ve been on. I think you guys are doing just great and it really helps everyone. I like it that you can say anything on here gross, dirty, sexy and you don’t get kicked off. I love being frank! Keep up the great work take care! Elizabeth:)

Some of the discussions do go into some deep sexual content that some eyes probably shouldn’t see. Is there a way to set up a “Mature” side that would keep out the very young and impressionable?

Yesterday I tried connecting to TV.com to find out what’s going on with its forum board members, but it’s been disconnected ever since noon and won’t connect anymore. Now I’ve tried linking onto Gamefaqs.com too, but it only connects to one frame and it won’t move on to another, no matter how hard I try to find out what’s on its boards too! Something is REALLY wrong with these two sites that won’t connect!!! Do you have any idea when they will be fixed?! ;_; ;_; ;_; ;_; ;_;

Sorry to hear you hate Help.com.

Regarding your email subscriptions, I just checked the customer service system, and the email address you’re using here isn’t listed in any of those databases. To contact CNET’s customer service team directly, you can use this form

and provide them with the necessary information, if you subscribed under some other email address. They’ll be able to help you get off of the TV.com list as well.
