night help: At night before I fall asleep, quite frequently I am having awful images flash in my head. - Help.com

At night before I fall asleep, quite frequently I am having awful images flash in my head.

Things I’ve never seen or heard before, they’re very short, very distinct in nature, and typically very gruesome or horrific to actually be in someone’s mind. Sometimes I have a great deal of trouble sleeping because of it. Are these some sort of pre-meditated nightmares or something? Am I psychologically disturbed?- I’d say I’m fairly normal, I don’t have any sadistic tendencies or anything, so if someone has any clue as to what I speak of and could possibly offer me some advice…PLEASE contact me. This whole situation is beginning to worry me.

You might be having night terrors…do you remember your dreams really well- like a movie? Or do you only remember them somewhat?
Here is a link.

I didn’t remember mine that well, and many times only remember screaming myself awake when I was a kid or just seemed to remember that I had a nightmare that was scary, but couldn’t really give details about it. They have medication for it if that’s what it is and it works ok, but you’ll have to go in and have these electrodes fixed to your head to find out your brain activity to really know. Thye’l probably put you on a bunch of different meds before they do that anyway. One of those might work too.
If it’s just a nightmare, which can be pretty scary too…they are usually caused by stress and releases itself in the form of a nightmare…does it happen usually in the morning hours? Like between 4 am and the time you get up? Let me know…
