If a person is prone to anxiety, it is usually caused by their brain. But from what you wrote, I understand it’s your anxiety that messes with your brain. Is there not a way to deal with your anxiety other than taking prescription drugs? They can really mess with your brain.

i’m sure there is. i’m just not quite sure how to deal with it otherwise. my mom’s not any help because that’s the only way she ever calmed her own anxiety, through pills. i just need some help, is all.

Lemon balm may work. It is natural, and good for treating anxiety. Another one is SAMe.

This is a bit delayed after your original post date, but how are you doing now?
I used to have severe anxiety with occasional panic attacks (rare, but horrible!) so I completely understand. I felt so helpless because I couldn’t control it. I would wake up everyday in a panic, and I really had no reason to be anxious. I thought it might have been a chemical imbalance in my brain, so I took anti-anxiety/anti-depression medication for awhile. In my experience, the medication didn’t help, but with time, the anxiety went away. The anxiety was all in my head and I would stress and worry about everything. I learned to keep calm and most importantly breathe. Running really helped me. It got most of the nervous energy out of me. Of course the anxiety is still recurring to this day, but it’s gotten a lot better ever since. To rid the anxiety, I would also suggest meditation or yoga. It’s hard if your brain can’t focus, but if you’re dedicated to your health, it really quiets the mind and helps you focus on the important things.
I hope all is well.

all is going better since then…though often i feel like my mind is being sucked through a very narrow tube…i mean that’s how i’d describe it. i kind of just deal with it now, though it doesn’t help much. i’ve had maybe two panic attacks in my whole life so i don’t know what that’s like really but i know how it is to be panicked a lot. thanks for the advice though, i appreciate it. :)

Here’s a suggestion: Each time you worry, make yourself write down what you are worried about, and write down what you think the solution is to your worry. And keep following this rule to write it down, along with your idea for a solution. As your worries are resolved, mark off your worries, and see how true to life your idea for a solution really worked. Perhaps you will come to find that you really worried about nothing important at all :)

And if u are worried about something really important, u have your idea for a solution, and can work toward that goal.
