Religion gets peoples attention for the simple fact that we all need a sense of purpose, belonging, and guidance.

No one wants to believe that our lives are meaningless accidents that end in our total annihalation. Religion serves an important role in society, it gives us morals so that we may have a civilized existance, it gives us hope in times of desparation, it gives us purpose when we are lost, it speaks to the deepest needs of the human animal. Religion also causes some of the tensions between people, look at what is going on in the world today. My belief is that people need to stop thinking that their way is the only right way and let others have their beliefs. Rise above the name of your religion and step into the higher realm of a nameless, all encompassing spirituality that realizes the truths of all the worlds religions. Tolerance, compassion, and love for all people not just those like you should be the standard for all human interaction. I personally believe in the big bang, I believe in what science and physics have discovered, but this does not rule out the possiblities of a creating force it just states that it has to work within the laws of nature. According to string theory all things boil down to tiny strands of energy, which in essence means that nothing you see is as it seems, we are all made of energy. Wise men of all ages have told us that everything is an illusion, quantum physics only proves mystics right.

Each person must make their decision based on their experiences. I’ve made my decision, but am a respector of all people. I’m caused to wonder how old you are and where you come up with such wisdom. Think what kind of world it would be if more people thought like you. My short response: I agree! And I agree with others who say that none of us have all the answers. I like to think of humanity’s evolution toward the Truth (capital T) like this: Imagine an old, wooden-spoked wagon wheel. Place each world religion/spirituality on a spoke somewhere between the hub (center) and the rim (steel band surrounding the wheel) –some further out, some closer in. Label the hub T (capital), Ultimate Truth. Each of the world religions/spiritualities has some truth (lower case t), but not the whole T. Interestingly, as each of the religions/spiritualities evolves toward T, they also evolve closer to one another — as the individual spokes converge on the hub. As far as your writing style goes, and whether or not you use too many words, I wouldn’t change a thing!
