computer help: LAPTOP… on too long? - Help.com

LAPTOP…

on too long? How long is too long for it to be running? It is a Dell studio XPS, and it’s less than a year old. I rarely use the battery, and keep a cooling fan on beneath it whenever it is on. When my hubby gets into a crappy mood (like RIGHT now) and has no reason to be mad , he has to “find” one . This has become his “go-to” excuse, and I need actual information that can be verified w/ the click of the mouse. He has been know to hide the laptop from me, And too be honest we are both about the same in our “computer I.Q. levels. I need help soon- I really need to go pee, and he might try hide the laptop if I do

As long as you hibernate it or put it to ’sleep’ it can go almost indefinitely. When it ’sleeps’ it goes into a low power mode and doesn’t get too hot. The main concern for it is the heat. As long as it stays cool it should be alright.
