How did the bill get to $2000? Without you doing something about it sooner? I’m sorry, but if you get it get that far then there are going to be other things that are problems. You need to reassess how you pay for your utilities. Unless you can get help from family or friends, or an emergency grant from the welfare department, these isn’t much you can do about it apart from not use any electricity until you have a job and can start to pay back what you owe.

Energy isn’t free, and whilst food and shelter might have seemed like a bigger priority, is it $2000 of priority?

500 a month gives you four months before it reaches 2000. Three months at least which is not an insignificant amount of time. If you had know you couldn’t pay it then you could have called the power company and arranged something. They are a lot more friendly and talkative when you do this then when you plead with them to bargain with $2000, which again, is not an insignificant amount of money.

For your information, I doubt you know anything about me. I know perfectly well there are things I could have done to prevent my situation. Things spiral out of control, I know that perfectly well too. I found out for myself. What I could have done though is not been as ‘extravagant’ as I had been with certain things; I could have gone without food for a day or two and paid my electricity bill instead but I did not and neither did you. And this is why you find yourself in this situation. I was only 19 when it started with me. My mother was just as young when she found herself in the same position. At 37 years old what is your excuse?

I will not patronize you by saying I know it’s hard to have children to look after; but obviously you’ve done something rather wrong somewhere and have left it rather late to be doing anything about it. What did you expect from here? Handouts? littlenick has given you as close as you will get to a handout here I’m afraid.

I wish you luck in sorting this out. It certainly wasn’t my intention to put you down or anything else; I was merely trying to ascertain how you came to be in such a position and you still haven’t provided any reasonable reason as far as I can see.
