It could. I would seek medical advice on this. Here’s a place to start: http://www.webmd.com/skin-beauty/cosm…

Without actually seeing exactly what type of fold you’re talking about, your best bet would be to talk to your child’s pediatrician about your concern.

My son had a fold in his ear. The doctor said “he is boy, it will give him character, don’t worry about it.” It slowly fixed itself. I wish I could remember how long it took, but I can’t.

How old is your child?

If it doesn’t correct itself I would be concerned with how her peers will treat her in school. Kids can be mean, especially to those they deem ‘different’.

its not that noticeable, like you only see it when you look in the actual hole. its kinda like a ‘Q’ with the little line in the O part, and when I do try to clean it it seems to bug her, but as a mother my child having ear wax is like nails to a chalk bored

I think my son was younger then that when it changed. Has the doctor gave you any suggestions?

honestly, I live in a very small town and when I asked, I got it just happens, but this is the same doctor who told me all growing up all of my illnesses were due to allergies. I don’t take the doctors word for much anymore.

Sounds like what my sons doctor said. He was not concerned about it at all. I think it is common for a ear to be folded over when born because of the way the head is positioned in the womb. Because the cartaglige is still soft, it fixes itself. But at 18 months, I do not know if the cartaliage is still soft or fully formed. I am searching to see at what age the cartalige hardens.

You should be switching doctors if his/her advice is not helpful. Given that it’s a small town, it might be a little harder to do this, but a good doctor is always worth the trip.

About the ear wax, you shouldn’t be worrying yourself about this and you really should not be cleaning it out if it’s not causing hearing problems. Most children don’t like it when you disturb sensitive parts, like the ear canal. Ear wax is beneficial, it traps incoming dirt to prevent it from going further into the ear canal where it would be a real problem or cause infections. It naturally dries up and falls out by itself when it gets to a certain size. Though this is not true for all individuals, so it can cause blockage and thus hearing problems, but this is very uncommon, and you should only be cleaning out the ear in this case. By digging into your child’s ear to clean out the ear wax, you can also be causing slight damage to the structure of the developing ear canal, which can cause problems later on in life.

I read online the safest method of ear wax cleansing was peroxide and water.

He is website that shows different misshaped ears at birth and they are selling a product to hold the ear in place the correct way so it can form corretly. It says that the cartaliage is still soft untill about age 5.

I am not saying buy this product, but it looks like you can hold the ear in place with tape or band. to help it harded into the correct shape.

Wow, uhhh, you definitely should not be using peroxide, not matter how diluted, anywhere near the ear of a child that young.
