“Homelessness is a Paycheck Away”

Good evening everyone,

I am like millions of other people who are hardworking individuals that believe you get where you are by doing the best to your ability.

I was at a job with Bell Helicopter, in August of 2006 my job was affected by a “cost reduction”. I thought I would have a job very quickly since I have 3 degrees, can do just about anything that anyone would ask me to do within reason. I did it with a smile. I filled out over 180 job applications and was told on many occassions since I worked for Bell that I was overqualified and that no one could afford me because Bell pays very well, regardless to what the jobs are. It was frustrating and I was unable to sleep all the way through the night. I was losing weight, my attitude was still staying positive but was taking a beating. As of today, I signed papers to finally go to work. My job won’t start until 1-27-07 and my first paycheck will come on 2-16-07. I had to take out part of my retirement to pay my house payment and keep my utilities on as well as put food on the table.

I would appreciate some type of assistance whatever it may be. However, I ask that you send me a mailing address so that when I get back on my feet, you will be repaid back. The job I took pays $11 less than what I was making so my budget will be tightened a great deal. If I can get my bills paid off, which is approximately $12,000, I can then concentrate on getting those individuals who have helped me to pay them back. I am very serious about this, I don’t want a hand out without me paying back those who have helped me. I need some assistance to get back on my feet, I don’t have anyone else to help, it is just me and my 10 year old.

The address is SM Forbes - PO Box 10234 - Amarillo, TX 79116.

Thank you for stopping and reading what I had to say. Have a good day and once again thank you.

SM Forbes

It must be crowded living in a P.O Box. Now go away, scammer.

I am sorry that you feel that way… I am not a scammer. I don’t feel comfortable in giving out my home address. If someone wants more info about my situation, I will be more than happy to talk to them and show them my spreadsheet on my bills. Have you heard the saying “don’t judge a book by the cover”. Just because I have a PO Box does not mean that I am scamming anyone and I would never do that.

This was not right on your part and how many of these people have offered to repay back what someone sends them? I am willing to do what I said. But I don’t care if you believe me or not. I know what is right in my heart and people like you who hide behind a picture of a dog and the American flag and say mean things are not worth me getting upset. You don’t know me and don’t truly know what I have experienced, so I would think twice before saying what you did.

SM Forbes….nice. You come here with a sob story, begging for money, and you can’t even have the decency to share your name? Let me tell you what I think….
Many of the good people that come to this site are hard working people. People who came up in less than fortunate conditions. I bet your “3 degrees” are a far stretch more than what most people here have.Myself included. I also find it difficult to believe that anyone with 3 degrees, and a former employee of Bell Helicopter, who by the way is owned by “Textron”, cannot find work. Your too proud to go to Burger King for a job, yet you can come here and beg for handouts from people who work VERY hard to have less than what YOU purport to have! So, in short SM Forbes, I do NOT believe your story. I also find it deplorable that people like you come to sites like this to take advantage of good people. I spent many years in law enforcement, and I can smell the pungeant odor of a CON from a mile away. Before I end, I would ask you to take a moment, and look in the mirror. Do you like what you see? Would your parents be proud of you? Can you hold your head high, and be proud of who and what you are? If so, then my hat’s off to you. But I suspect that’s not the case. God Bless you. I’ll say a prayer for you.

By the way, the town you live in is over 200 miles from Bell Helicopter, Textron. Just out of curiosity, did you commute that 400 and something miles to work each day?

Have you heard of WTAMU, Amarillo College, TSTI?? Those are the colleges I recieved my degrees. I have taken a job that pays less than what I made at Bell Helicopter and yes it is owned by Textron, I know that since I used to be in communications with Mike Redenbaugh who just recently resigned.

In response to your response… what is your name? I gave part of my name how about yours??? I am 47 and there has been only 4 times since the age of 16 that I did not work. 2 times after the birth of my 2 daughters and once after working for CASA and being around abused and neglected children for 2 years and giving speeches at 6 AM to civic organizations talking about my experiences of my cases of children who were horribly abused and burned and sexually assaulted when they were 6 months old. I have worked at McDonalds, I am now about to work in a retail store. I had the head of Texas Workforce who was our point of contact tell me 3 weeks ago, the reason why he did not contact me about a job was because he didn’t think they could afford me. I am now about to go work in a retail store, because I had to take a job before my unemployment benefits ran out. Then the 4th time is the 6 months that it has taken me to finally get a job with this retail store.

I just read your profile, and you know what you have no right to judge me. YOU DON’T KNOW ME… at least I am not a depressed person who can’t get it together. You haven’t walked a single step in my shoes and no I don’t want your prayers. I have enough prayers from those who love me and care for me that are standing behind me. You need to get into more anger management classes.

The question you ask about how far away Bell Helicopter is from where I live, try 15 miles. You don’t have a clue as to what you are talking about. And yes they are having ongoing layoffs as we speak. Where are you getting your info? You say you are a police officer, get the facts straight before showing the world that you don’t know what you are talking about.
