Well the first problem that I see with your statement is that you where surprised to find out that there was a second mortage on the house. You should’nt be in this fix because the bank would of had you pay for a title search that would show that there was a second mortage on the house pryer to getting the loan to purchase it. Second you should of had a Home Inspector check out the house befor you purchased it. Now as for your plumbing problem since you did not specify if it was a water supply or sewer problem, you can go out and pick up a couple of home improvement books on do it yourself plumbing repairs and fix most of the problems yourself.
