When doing exercise and muscle toning, does it matter if you try to do it most days instead of one day on one day off?

ive read that your supposed to do muscle work one day, then cardio work, alternating between the 2. I assuming the only implication with doing both each day, for 6 and then having the 7th off, will just mean reps and stamina will be lower? so that will mean less of a work out daily, but is it better because your muscles are being worked to failure? Thanks :)

If you are just toning, and not worried about adding muscle mass, You do not need to rest the muscle group you worked the day prior. Toning consists of less weight and more reps. This does not tear the deep fibers of the muscles down to the point where you will need 48 hours of rest. When lifting for pure strength and mass, you are tearing down these fibers closer and closer to muscle failure. For this you will need a day of rest off for that muscle group just to remove all lactic acid and rebuild the deep fibers of the muscle. But no, you can work out the same muscle group if you are concentrating on toning.
