I have petitioned for my wife and kid as a greencard holder, how long does it takes for entire process to be approved and finally be in U.S.?

Also I heard rumors that President B. Obama according to the national issues with illegal immigrants is making a law to altered the proceeding process to be faster so they can be in U.S. withing six months for greencard holder ( residents ) when petition a relative? Is this true?

It depends upon what skills you have and how badly the US needs you. It is handled on a case by case system.

How long is your visa? How important is it that you stay here? Are you picking tomatoes or working in a nuclear power plant? Everything is taken into account. The unemployment rate is extremely high in the US and we are trying to get rid of immigrant workers so that we can quit paying so much unemployment to our own citizens. We need jobs for our citizens your chances are looking worse as the unemployment rate grows.
