My 26 year old son wants to go to college to study engineering.

He used to work as a bartender, but was laid off recently. Should I pay for his tuition?

Only if he believes in himself. Only if he has the attitude he will pass and not fail any course. Engineering has a lot of math you go from calculus 1 to differential equations and it is intense.

If he believes in himself, and believes he will go all the way to be an engineer, then consider paying for it.

If you want to and he needs help. Or you can set up a payment plan where he can pay you back, or set up some rules like “I’ll pay as long as you don’t fail any classes and don’t drop out”

I agree.
Pay for it if you want to and have the money to do it.
Possibly see if he can pay you back (but dont rely on it) or pay for a good amount of college.
Definitely set rules: you dont want to be losing tens of thousands of dollars on a failing or °°insert other negative characteristic here°° student.

I also agree.
Make sure he has the right attitude and maintains that attitude while you are paying.

Please note, the steps to becoming and engineer do not stop even after you graduate.
