I was with a couple of friends the other day and we started talking about Amsterdamn and weed and all of this.

Well one of my friends said that Amsterdamn has made smoking weed illegal, because of the red zone. So question one is it true? Question two what is the Red Zone?

According to a French guy and German guy I met at a flatshare, weed is legal in Amsterdam, but smoking in public places is not, so you can’t smoke weed in coffee shops etc anymore.

having lived there for 16 years i can tell you its officially not legal but tolerated, this just makes the netherlands look good on paper but in practice you can smoke weed. No cop will say anything I can guarantee you, and you are allowed to smoke week in coffe shops, you’re just not allowed to smoke cigarettes because of the public smoking ban law, which apparently doesn’t affect weed. I mean I got nicked for possession when I was 14 but nothing happened because it was under the dealing limit, this isn’t the states, cops here are pretty laid back about this sort of thing
