Yeah, it’s more of a South-East Asian thing. But as I said, the larger ramifications transcend boundaries.

I’ve always really liked learning about asian cultures, so yeah this is very cool
We have a “parade of lights” by my house, which I think is like a festival of lights, and that is in another month or so.
I like light, I wish you a happy festival of lights!

Thanks. You too!
I notice you got a head and face. If that is part of this festival then because of time zone considerations I’ll not need to do that for a month or so either. :)

lol.
No, that’s unrelated. I just thought I’d unleash my looks to help.com people, just for fun. Heh. I’m not even religious, so this is more a bit of a spiritual thing for me, rather than ritualistic.
On the other hand, feel free to follow suit any time you like lol.
I don’t even know why my brain thinks weird things like that.
Thank you for sharing this with us.
A very happy Diwali to you! :)
Happy Diwali to you too! First time I’ve heard of this too, lol!

May the festival of lights be the harbinger of joy and prosperity. As the holy occasion of Diwali is here and the atmosphere is filled with the spirit of mirth and love, here’s hoping this festival of beauty brings your way, bright sparkles of contentment, that stay with you through the days ahead.
Best wishes on Diwali and New year.

You can, however post images as direct links. If your link is too long to post properly, may I suggest http://www.bit.ly ?
It shortens overtly long links into more manageable ones.

I’d like to take this opportunity to wish a very happy Diwali to the community of help.com
For those not in the know, Diwali , the festival of lights, is a major Hindu, Sikh and Jain festival. While it is religiously significant for the people of those three faiths, the larger spiritual ramifications apply to just about everyone!
It is a time of joy and festivity and a time to be thankful for all the serendipitous events that have occurred in your life for the past year. It is the day to celebrate and to reaffirm your faith in, the inevitable victory of good over evil.
Let the festival of lights be the time when the light of higher knowledge dispels all ignorance, the ignorance that masks one’s true nature, not as the body, but as the unchanging, infinite, immanent and transcendent reality.
Let us celebrate the prosperity we have, not just in material terms, but in terms of the things that make us truly human. Our experiences, our relationships, our feelings, and wonderful uniqueness.
For in those terms, we are each one of us, immeasurably wealthy.
This fifth of November, this is me wishing you a very happy Diwali indeed.
:)
