You’re so humble, LoL. That’s cool that you met someone else with the same mind frame as you. It’s getting harder to meet people you can relate to these days. Sorry about the ADD and Dyslexia. True geniuses always have their flaws, though. :-)

You can be sure that you are NOT the genius you claim by the virtue that it is self proclaimed, self forwarded and self merrited through very basic academic achievements. If you’re a genius. . .I am God.
Both are highly unlikely.
But you are you and that’s what counts.

The people who boast the most are typically the most insecure. They are trying to convince themselves as much as anyone else. When you have a balanced life, you don’t feel the need to focus on any particular part of yourself and broadcast it to the universe. The Ph.ds I know are some of the most weirdly insecure people I know. Why? Because they base all of their self esteem on their “intellect” and their “expertise”. When that is challenged, they don’t have anything else to fall back on and they freak out. It’s sad.

It’s easy to be a genius in school. Let’s face it, school is not that hard.

And what you consider “smart” is a pretty narrow definition. It’s pretty silly to concentrate on the narrow area of interests you have (that “no one can keep up with”) to the exclusion of everything else in life. Even IQ tests test a pretty narrow concept of intelligence.

Success in life has little to do with intelligence. It has a lot to do with good people skills and having the discipline to perform consistently. Being a genius with poor social skills and ADHD or whatever you want to label your poor anxiety management skills, is going to lead you to a life of frustration watching people with mediocre intelligence, good people skills, and the willingness to produce consistent results outpace you in the “real world”.

Having a dyslexia problem along with the superiority complex?
I can remedy one, but the other of which, there is no cure for. . .
Get a pair of light gray sunglasess with a thin opacity, knock out the left lense and start wearing them. This will help (not cure) to correct your dyslexia.

Well, in short your an interaction of energy composed with a certain amount of mass known as “self”. What you call “life” is your interpretation of the interaction with other energies outside the perimeter of the “self”.
That is the easiest way to explain the “who” question.

If you are in UK and still at school/college then ask your tutors for advice.

They may recommend a dyslexia screening test or, after investigations, recommend a G+T option (no, not a gin and tonic, it stands for Gifted and Talented). The dyslexia screening test will only show whether there is a POSSIBILITY of you having a dyslexia problem requiring further investigation. If positive, you will then need to ask to be put forward for more rigorous testing (tests which cannot, incidentally, be rigged or “fooled”). If the school does not feel this is necessary, you can apply to undergo them privately but would be obliged to pay.

Similarly, if your school is unsupportive and does not consider you come under “G+T”, you can see an Educational Psychologist privately for a profiling assessment and take things from there.

Traditional IQ and Mensa tests are pretty irrelevant these days as there are far more effective and efficient methods of testing intelligence/learning ability.

It is true that there are indeed many gifted dyslexics in the world. That does not mean they rank as geniuses… though a very small minority, like Einstein, do.

Do you have a statement of dyslexia or ADD already?

And superiority complex? I do not think I am better than anyone else.

You don’t have to think that you’re better than anyone else to has a superiority complex. When you pedestal yourself above the altitude in which you actually soar, you have a superiority complex. . . It’s not meant as an insult but as a matter of fact.
If you don’t know who you are. . .it is far more enriching in life to know thyself than to attain great riches or accomplish great things. To know what you are not is the begining of great wisdom.

Ok.. well then the system will be different there. For UK students, an ADD “diagnosis” would come with a Statement of Educational Need. That compels the Local Education Authority to offer learning support (which includes coping with standardised testing and time issues). An SEN statement is also issued for dyslexia sufferers.

Dyslexia is a much misused term. It actually covers a range of spectrum disorders associated with reading and learning. Unfortunately, there is no “quick fix” and the only way to be sure of the right support in that is to undergo proper testing with a trained specialist (online tests cannot accurately diagnose). Some sufferers do indeed find that coloured acetate or spectacles helps them, others don’t. Other techniques to try are cutting a hole in plain A4 card and placing it over text so that as you read, peripheral text is masked. You may find further help here:

Why would you believe I have superiority complex though? I doubt my self everyday, and get depressed by it.

The heading of your post - the banner reads as follows. . . “I think I’m a genius.”
My friend, there is not one whit of doubt involved in a statement like that. The flavor of your post would be much more humble if it read, “Do you think I’m a genius?”
There is a distinct difference between the two.

I do not believe humans can correctly say what a genius is, because discerning who is a genius is opinion. So than a genius is really just a human concept. It is a concept on individuality and superiority. This has gotten me to think… there is technically no such thing as a genius. It is really something we made up.

You´re on to something here. Think about all the time wasted trying to define different things..

I probably speak for the majority of society in saying that one would be considered a genius when one’s discoveries rank amongst those of Einstein or Newton.. or when one can play like Beethoven or paint like Rembrandt…

Of all of the many, many students I have encountered who have felt that they were “different” in their abilities to others and the “only ones who understood things” - only one I knew could be called a true genius. Of the rest, a few were indeed “gifted and talented”. The vast majority? Sadly deluded.

The true genius spent every waking minute of the day thirsting for knowledge and understood that school was the best place to get that, whether others understood him or not was irrelevant to him, as were exams, results, opinions.. Books, laboratories and access to information were all that mattered. Sadly for us, it made him something of a social outcast. Happily for him, he was so absorbed in learning that he didn’t mind.

Did you know that Einstein was not “slow” at math? He was restricted by the rigours of the very inadequate scholastic system available to him, profoundly dsylexic and unable to correctly interpret the symbols presented to him in written format. He actually went on to propose an entirely new and controversial educational philosophy/method… but they didn’t really think he knew much about that either.

Now, true genius? What does it mean? Read beyond the first page of the article in the link above. It might help :o)

Now, I think you need to devote a little more time to study if you want to be considered a genius. I also think that if you managed to read all of that article, and associated links and absorbed it thoroughly enough to be able to formulate an opinion on the nature of genius in less than the 4 minutes my computer screen implies it took you… then you don’t have a problem with dyslexia.

If you require further help or assistance with learning difficulties preventing you from reaching your desired goals, then I’d be happy to provide you with plenty more reading material.

I think I’m a genius. For my whole life I’ve known I was different. I didn’t see things the way other people did. I always thought other people were so dumb, but I realize the truth is their just normal. I’m the one who is different. However I also thought that I’m just being cocky and I’m no genius, but the more I think about it, the more I believe I am. It’s very depressing not know what or who you are. There have been parts of my life where I thought I would never have to worry about anything, because my mind could solve any problem.

I get bored really easily, and I have never been stumped by something. I think school is to easy and meaningless. I’ve never really studied in my entire life, and have won writing, science, and other awards while being as lazy as a sloth. The only thing in school that can keep my attention for longer than 5min is physics. People always say to do in live what you love. There is nothing in this life that I could do forever. I wanted to find something I could do that long, but to be honest to myself I would get bored in a couple minutes of any job. The thing I want to do, is do everything.

I’ve never really made any friends, there has been no one I could get along with. Yesterday though, I met this guy. No one I’ve come across has ever been able to handle my level of thought until now. I’ve never been sure if I was actually a genius or not until I met this guy. Our minds worked exactly the same. It is hard to explain in words exactly what this means. Me and guy new what it meant with out a word, because it is something that is too complex to be said. He has the same exact problems as me, a.d.d., dyslexia, a sleep disorder. We both think about things in such depth, in a depth no one else could comprehend. Everyone else left the room because they couldn’t keep up with our conversation. I stimulated my mind more talking to him, than the total of talking to anyone else in my entire life.

We talked about how to make money, about how when we looked at something we thought about every single possibility. We both have an amazing memory; he is photographic and I am close to that. We both learn in close to the same way; mostly visual and touch. We can both read something and memorize it instantly.

He is more than 10 years older than me, and has achieved a lot. Meeting him may change my life. He has told me so many tips. We basically thought the same exact way up until are ages, however I have yet to be as old as he is, so he tells me things that I would have gone though. It’s hard to explain, but it’s like looking at your future.

We realized how smart each other was, when he was trying to explain something to me. He said something like: “I’ve tried to explain that to people for hours and they still don’t understand it” , I had comprehended his explanation in less than 10secs. We both conversed on how we couldn’t understand how other people thought. How we saw things so clearly and instantly, where other people had to think.

This is more of a rant than a question, but thank you for reading. I want to take an iq test, but I struggle in testing(The guy I met has an iq of 130-140 I think). Only due to the fact I can’t concentrate. When taking a standardized test like the S.A.T. , I will read something, go of thinking about what I just read and than come back to reality realizing I had day dreamed for the past 10min. It is so hard for me to take tests because it’s almost impossible to finish them. I still get good scores, and those scores are only from finishing half the test. If I could concentrate, I would do amazing. If anyone has any tips for concentrating with dyslexia or A.D.D. please leave them.

P.S. : I know this post is full of grammar errors, but I do not feel like fixing them. Yea if I am a genius, I’m def. a lazy one.

Yea if I am a genius, I’m def. a lazy one.
