Computer help pleeeeze!

So my USB went wrong and I have no backups (cause I’m an idiot) and I lost the one file I needed. It was a document saved as a word 97/2000 document and I was wondering if anyone knew if there was any way there would be traces of it on the laptop somewhere? Like a ghost copy or a cached copy or something. It was written in openoffice.org 3.2 but saved in word format. Help?

Like your avatar, but no can do on the help. I know there are sometimes ways of finding that ghost copy, but from what I know its only stored there till the comp is turned off. And I don’t have a clue on how to find it.

If you saved it on the USB then it will only be on the USB.

the only way to get the file back is if you fix the error on the USB.

whats the problem with the USB?

My brother managed to get everything back from my USB except that one file and the whole thing’s been formatted now so it’s probably lost

you shouldnt have formatted it, and why was all the other files retrieved except that one?

maybe that was the damaged file that corrupted the USB!

try this, open openoffice word and go to recent documents. look for the files name. you might be lucky if its there
