My son has a heart condition at 29 years old and has no insurance.

He has no money to buy his heart medication. I’m his mother and I’m on social security and have a small income of my own, but have been helping him as much as I can. We live in Michigan and are having trouble getting him any free help. What can you suggest we can do to get help. Thank you Kathy Leasure

What is the name of his condition, and do you know the name of the medication? I may have a few ideas.

I thought so. I had a similar condition when I was younger. I had trouble paying for medication, and I was able to talk to the drug manufacturer, which was 3M. They agreed to supply me with free medication for a period of time. Also, I’m wondering if you have the drug name right….could it be called Tambocor? That’s the same stuff I took.

…also, you should look into having an ablation done. It’s a fairly simple procedure that will require a one night stay in the hospital. They basically use a catheter which goes into your leg via the femoral artery. Then they use a micro lazer to “burn” the electrical pathway that is causing the problem. I suspect the symptoms include a rapid heart rate, or palpitations? He could also try various breathing excercises to stop the palpitations if needed. FYI, this condition rarely results in death, so please, don’t worry too much. OK? Good luck, and God Bless You.

The doctor said his heart condition is life threatening, and we had to take him to the hospital in a ambulance about 2 weeks ago because he was having trouble breathing and colapesed on the floor. The hospital doctor wants him to see a heart doctor but he can’t because of no health insurance. He went down to the State building to see if they would give him medical insuance and they said they are only giving it to children, pregnant women and those who are disabled. He told them that he was disabled but until he gets disabity from Social Security they don’t consider him disabled. So we are still try to find some place that will help him. But thanks for all of you who are concerned about us. May God bless you all. Kathy
