To me I am amazed that an altered state can be achieved by lights and sound and patterns.. This substantiates my theory that mood, and emotional health are much influenced by the outside, or environment..There are subtle external influences that affect us each and every day..I wonder if any studies are done on this…

I’m sure there have been studies done. Why shouldn’t an altered state be achieved by outside influences? Our five senses are our link to the world.

Some of that video did get a bit disturbing for me at times. I’m curious about who created it!

I like how if I focus on an object for too long my vision starts blurring and it feels like everything is melting. If it’s at a light, it feels like the lights are exploding! :)

Phht, actually try some pyschadelics. Its nothing like this. This video, experienced while ON pyschadelics however, would be awesome.

On its own its just another kitch attempt to recreate a truly interesting visual experience.

Hmm, I have used shrooms and it was very similar to the video. I do admit, shrooms was way more fun, but for a video, this had me lightly tripped out…

I guess some of the images in the video show what a picture of the wavy feeling you get on hallucinogens might look like, but i don’t think you can feel like that without taking something. Closest I’ve come is letting my imagination run wild and having crazy dreams. Hard to control though!

Stay up for a week and then you might become psychotic in which case you will hallucinate all sorts of things. I thought the walls in my room were glowing and and shimmering and melting and that I was entering into a paralell universe!

There have been several studies done on this. Actually there is a type of depression completely based on seasons and the lessening of sunlight in the winter. Those people tend to be treated by having a light that imitates the sun in their home that they are supposed to turn on for a certain minimum amount each day and it has been shown to elevate their mood.
Study psychology. There’s tons of stuff out there about mood and emotions and how they relate to the outside world.

That is actually because your eyes focus according to the movements they make. They twitch lightly when you focus on one thing so that they can continue focusing. Also can be caused by your eyes starting to become too dry.

Yes I am aware of seasonal affective disorder, the lack of sun in the winter and its effect on the emotions. What I ask is the less obvious influences..The way colors effect mood, the way patterns in our environment effect our thoughts, the way television programs us.. As an example, you drive to work, and when you arrive are you the same person you was emotionally, spiritually, and physically as you was before you left home.. You had outside influences during your drive, lights, pollution, patterns, road hypnosis, sounds, etc. etc. We are basically a conglomeration of our insides and outsides..There is to some extent very little control as to who we are, both short term and long term based on our somewhat lack of control of our outside..

First of all drugs are useless from any point of thinking.

That altered state may be different for different persons. I feel that you have already answered your point when you said:

“To me I am amazed that an altered state can be achieved by lights and sound and patterns..
