“The training fostered the idea that workers who had low statistics should be penalized for low productivity, or for crossing a favored employee with ‘up-statistics’. Some Allstate managers took such ideas too far, resulting in charges of “management by intimidation.” “

i goggled and found this section under ‘don pearson’ on wiki.

Oh gosh.. that can’t be good!

It makes me nervous, I’ve got to be honest! But this is a little chiropractic clinic.. family owned. Hmm… my gut tells me to run away, but I really need a job right now.

Thanks for the info, monkichirmo!

Anyone else know more?

doesn’t sound too bad to me, i’d think most places would penalize a person for low productivity (idk, by either firing them, less hours, maybe a lower wage…?) don’t really get what they’re saying about the favored employees(there shouldn’t be favorites i guess). not in the mood to research lol.

lol.. yeah.. I guess. I just worry that they are going to be crazy pushy or something?

The more confusing part is that its a front desk position, so what exactly would I be competing for stats on?

haha.. I’m sure I probably just have the typical view of the scientologists being crazy and so I’m associating that and freaking out a bit.. hmm

you could always quit if it doesn’t work out.

Not a clue, never heard of that, but I often follow my gut.

I agree with monkichirmo. It’s a job… if you don’t like it, you can always quit. In the meantime, they’ll pay you while you’re figuring it out. I’d apply, and if you actually get the job, try it out.

I don’t know a thing about this.

Hey everyone. So.. I’m applying for a job and at the top of the application there is a little disclaimer type thing that says the business practices under the “management by statistics” plan.

I know that this was started by the guy who started scientology (which made me giggle, for the record) but the claim to not be religiously affiliated. Nevertheless, I want to know exactly what that IS. There are sites about it but they seem to be really long-winded.

Can someone just sum this up for me so I don’t walk into an interview blind? What exactly is the “management by statistics” and “conditions” business theory?

Thanks!
