wow.. That was so sad :(
Thanks for the invite though Max, it’s things like this that stop me drinking and driving.
OUCH…This broke my heart, Max…Thank You for the invite and insight…
Especially right at this time of Christmas parties and definitely the New Years parties…
Please, readers…do NOT get behind the wheel of your cars after drinking…even just a little…you may be “minimally impaired” and able to get home, but even then who knows if your reflexes are still totally dependable even then?
Going to parties? Have a designated driver, no matter what…
Someone has to stay sober…for YOUR life sake and for others…
Please be careful out there, ok???
Thank You again, Max…Peace…Cara
We have a thing called operation Red Nose. They drive your for car free:)

Thank You Max..Keeps me on the Ground….
Yes and although very sad..very true.
I think of her when I read posts of people complaining over the small stuff.
I’m guilty of drinking and driving , but for the grace of God I never injured anybody , I’m sober almost 6 years and I thank God everyday that I never hurt anyone , or myself , it’s a sad truth that many ,many of us drink and drive until something bad happens .
Sad, sad story..I ALWAYS encourage people not to drink and drive after losing a friend to it Thanksgiving of 09. It ruins lives.
Thanks for he invite, but I’m currently not able to watch anything sad. Can’t let nything else get me down, at the moment.
Thank you Max. We have MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving/Drivers), and am a member. during this time of year, we hear announcements on the radio for having someone drive you home for free. we all need to be at the best of our abilities whenever driving. BE SAFE TO HELP KEEP SAFE.

I agree
This is a reminder to every person who drinks and sits at the wheel of the car: the people you endanger have lives, they have friends, they have families. It’s not just them yourself, nor even the physically injured that you endanger.
It’s so horrible and meaningless.

And that still might not stop them.
Such a sad video, Max. Thanks for the invite. Do you know the family? When you said this, it made me think you might know her.

This is a very important reminder to everyone at this time of year. I would also like to add one more reminder. With all the Christmas cheer and well wishes that we will be getting an giving on our cell phones, please, PLEASE, don’t take that call or text while you are driving. It just takes a second to change lives, trust me on this one. I live with the results of someone not paying attention every day.
Thanks for the invite Max…
Still learning Help.com etiquette : )
I do remember her family. The lawyer for the other guy was a complete …! He actually had to nerve to get on the news after his clients day in court and say “Everybody drinks and drives sometimes! It’s not that big of a deal. It was a mistake.” or something almost exactly like it. What I couldn’t believe was that the reporter didn’t even stop to question that lawyer on it! It was totally dismissed like it was never said.
I shouldn’t have watched that. Brought me right back to the day that the news broke. There was other significance of that day for me. Her poor grandmother went through A LOT and so did those kids. Losing their parents was one thing, then moving, then surgeries, then the offender had practically gotten away with murder. What an AWFUL story!
I have thought about those kids every time I was on that stretch of road for years. No, I’m not kidding.
yes, this is needed. in fact these videos should be showed every day. yes, it is considered a ‘accident’ but its one of countless that could have been prevented had someone, anyone..stepped in to say something, taken the keys away…something!
Thanks for the invite, Max. I’d also like to put out the word to anyone who is hosting a dinner party / holiday celebration at their home:
Please give some thought to the idea of not serving alcohol the *entire* evening - when the dessert gets served is an ideal time to tuck the liquor / wine bottles away and to switch to coffee. Take on the responsibility of sobering your guests up before they leave - if you can’t get them sober, restrain them from leaving - they can flop on your floor for the night. I started doing this many years ago and my responsible friends have never minded - the ones that did mind weren’t really the type of people I wanted to be friends with anyway.

I know it’s sad and I did meet some of the family.
I hope this media attention changes the law and helps prevents this terrible tragedy.
A drunk with a car is like a sick person with a gun.
I’ll go to jail first, before I let someone leave with keys.
You can use the camera in your phone if they don’t listen and wish to drive anyway.
BTW..it’s lawyers like him that cause me to fall into a rage!
I have no feelings other then immense anger and disappointment for them, trash.
Let’s not give them our power:)

{patting you on the back} What a great example you have set for others to follow…I dont know how someone who hosted a party (that dont do this) can NOT give thought to the ones driving home . to just continue to party, go to bed like nothings happened and sleep well. I sure wouldnt want that on my conscious. its selfish, uncaring and down right irresponsible. I could never be a bartender .And these people call each other friends?! WTH! dont they know what REAL friends are? Partiers have a whole different perspective and attitude full of excuses for themselves and each other that is beyond my understanding.

I hear ya Max, its this lackadazical (laid back, lazy) thinking that too many people have and if (the judge especially) has the same thinking , then these people get off!..we here in the midwest have a ‘3 times DWI and your out’ law but just as Im writing this on the news they told of some guy that has 5..1..2..3…4..5! count them ..DWI’s!!..its like ‘What the HECK !? ..it was probably their ignorant irresponsible thinking that let him do it again and again

The lawyers are only part of the justice system, max. He’s doing what he can to get his client fairly represented.

No, it was already overwith. It was the lawyer talking to reporters after their day in court and after the sentencing. He was just another idiot.

Oooooh. I hate it when people don’t give up when they should (like Joe Miller in Alaska. Anybody ever heard of him?).
I’s over when it’s over. No use being a bad sport.

I know what you’re saying my friend, but sadly there are ones that worship money more then the system or their code of ethics:) There is a big difference between a fair trail and finding loop holes in the justice system.
Wow Max, that video is indeed a eye opener & a VIR (very important reminder!)
so many needless accidents…all so easily preventable..so sad.
this video will undoubtedly remind a lot of people to think twice about driving, even if all they have had is a small celebratory glass of wine.
thank you Max!
=]
It was very sad, I feel so bad not just for this girl but for all the beautiful innocent kids that are left behind because of their parents death.
This video teaches a great lesson, I hope people learn something from this video and think about their children too.
Thanks Max for sharing.

um, Hi. It says that it is very sad.
That’s why I didn’t watch it. I can’t watch something sad.
But I’ll read the replies to get some courage then reconsider my position.
Well..maybe you’re better not too. It is extremely sad, but the message is clear and that’s all you need. No need to go any further:)

Don’t read it. I was down when I read it. It certainly didn’t help. It was a “Don’t drink and drive” reminder, for people who seem to think that consequences don’t matter or don’t last.

Yes it is. She is using her pain and message to bring awareness to a preventable, senseless tragedy. We wish her well, but sadly even after all this we still have weak laws.
I guess if her message has saves other families from this horrible event, the drinking society will be going in a better direction:)
Thank you for watching.
You’re welcome….Random1’s son:)
Hi this the TheRandom1 just wanted to say ill be using this one for now on ‘case ur wondering
That poor girl - and yet she finds the strength to face another day! Very inspiring! Thank you!
A silver lining in a very dark cloud. She is an amazing Hero! I pray she is rewarded 10 fold for her work in trying to save other:)
Thank you for watching and your reply.

It was very sad story….
this good be a nice lesson
to those people driving while they are alcoholic drivers
they should NOT to drive
before they will find out the blame when they made…….
they should call a TAXI after they having fun in drinking…
Yes, that’s true. The phase “they should” needs to be replaced with “never, ever”.
He was a repeat offender and today with cell phones we can prevent or reduce this with a call.
You’re welcome..I don’t anymore either.
I broke a family and community tradition.
Don’t you just want to hug her:)

Yes !
I wish her happiness and love in life and you too !
That is so so sad, it broke my heart. This poor girl having to go through something like this. My daughter is close to the same age. I don’t drink and can’t imagine how someone could be so careless and get behind the wheel of a car after drinking. I’ll pray for this girl everyday, I hope she can find some peace someday.
She’s a “Star”. An advocate for prevention. I too wish her peace:)
I haven’t seen a big benefit other then screwing up my thoughts and making me too comfortable with strangers:)
its just poison nothing more

Wrong place, wrong time. This needn’t be about alcohol. It could be about a driver who fell asleep behind the wheel. It could be morning, noon, or night. In my circle, the first time, the husband was killed when a car came from across the median hitting them head on. And on a different occasion, four years ago, coming home for Christmas, Mom, Dad, son and daughter were struck head on by a truck. Husband and son did not come home that year. No alcohol. I95 from Maryland headed north.
You are completely right. Here we seem to have a problem with alcohol (and drugs) that we’re trying to get under control.
This Christmas eve. Four dead after son celebrates his new birthday car with friends. Car slides of the road and in a river:( He and his friends were 18 years old.
Drugs and alcohol provoke irrational thoughts. Stupidity. This is a symptom. What is the root cause? Keys are to be turned over to someone supervising teen drinking. We know this now. But in the 70s everyone drove smashed. What is the message? Poor parenting? Ignorance?I was drunk at age 18. I drove like a little old lady too. No speed for me. And despite these tragedies. They will continue. So what is the message? What isn’t being said? What is missing from the equation? Why does this continue to happen in every town across the nation?
Manners, responsibility and values.
As a Bishop mention the other day during a radio broadcast; they are ten commandments, not ten suggestions.
The “me” attitude doesn’t pay dividends. They must learn on their own:)
