Can you have too many vitamins/nutrients?

I am getting ready to eat breakfast and I realized that I will be going way over the 100% vitamin mark in just this meal for most vitamins. Is there a way to see how much is too much?

it depends on the vitamin, most excess just gets flushed but you can get too much of the trace minerals and there can be bad side effects from those…

you should research vitamin overdose and see what comes up

Though I think it’s pretty hard to o.d. on vitamins

If your meals are well balanced and nothing is eaten to excess.. then no, there will be no problem.

However, if you take a number of vitamin supplements, you could cause serious harm. Vitamin D poisoning is one to be wary of in particular. In uk, there is currenly no warning on health food supplements about this and it is frightening that anyone can walk into a store and buy supplements without any control, even though overdosing on certain vitamins or minerals can seriously damage your health. Unfortunately, health food supplements are not categorised as medication but as “food products” here so are not subject to the same controls.

Well, my situation is that I am having a Cliff Bar and a glass of juice for breakfast. I will probably be above 100% for vitamins C, A and E. But nothing will top 300% during the course of the day (C is what will come closest).
I don’t take supplements because I figure if I eat the foods with them I should be alright.
