house help: How much is average cost for food? - Help.com

How much is average cost for food?

I’m going to moving into a house by myself (hopefully) and I’m trying to work out all the costs. I’m in England, outside of London, but any rough estimates would be a huge help.

Any other tips and tricks of what else to look out for in budgeting for a new place to rent?

Is the food just for you?

One person can get away spending about 30 a week on food and small cleaning items etc.

Yeah, it’ll just be for me, and I do tend to eat portions on the smaller side. I’ll either be in a studio app or in a flatshare, depending on what I can afford, but travel is so expensive I’m not sure I can afford anywhere at all :(

It doesn’t help that I have a unstable job as it is :( I’m pretty much just looking around for the ‘if everything works out’ situation.

Council tax
Groceries
Travel
Rent
‘Rainy day’ income

anything else I need to budget for?

Gas and electric if it is not included in the rent =/

You seem to have most things on the list.
