I paid my car registration on time.

I forgot to include a copy of the insurance card with renewal therefor I never got my new atgs or registration card. I mailed a copy of prrof of insurance to DMV and now just waiting for new tags. While Im waiting I have gotten two tickets on two different days for expired tags. Can they do that??? Im not sure what to do?

If you don’t have a temp registration/temp tags, yes they can and will do that. When you go to the DMV if there is a chance of you getting pulled over they can give you temp tags to put in your window until the real tags come in the mail. If you didn’t get that, you might try getting something in writing from the DMV then show up in court to fight the tickets. If they were just ‘fix it’ tickets (i.e. show proof of these things and tickets go away) then you don’t really have anything to worry about… just show the proof.
