Anyone ever have a silly dream or aspiration?

Mine is to live in an RV like a nomad of sorts. Maybe a modified Volkswagon bus. Travel the states, just me and Molly, my pitbull. Stopping just to make money and leaving again. Never staying in one place for long. I doubt it’s as glorified as I imagine it, and will probably stay in my imagination forever, but the freedom sounds marvelous. Anyone have a dream like that?

I have these wanderlusts all the time… its good to act on them in a limited manner.
For example, go for a nomad like trip for a weekend, you would soon realise how much you like it and then can find a balance.
Like sometimes I just need to go to a hill station, so I just take my bike and travel as far as possible, and return to normal life once that feeling goes away. Sometimes when I know I won’t be able to travel. I pack all my stuff as if I am about to leave, somehow that also gives me a great amount of satisfaction and then I can return to my work quite content.
No matter how much we hate it, we have to find a balance and live in this world, but you can always find ways to fulfill your dreams. But no matter what, do find a way to let them out.

I’ve been moving on a near constant basis since I was little, and have been on two roadtrips. I think that’s why I want it in the first place. I just wish it was a more plausible dream.

It seems quite plausible to me, work on it and it may become something worth dying for! I think you shouldn’t give up right now, its your dream, if you wont believe in it, no one else will. Think of all options, add more practical details and you might be able to work things out. May be you could be a freelance photographer for a travel magazine, you could then travel as much as possible and live the way you want to. If you work out the details, it seems a good choice.
Btw apart from liking road trips, is there something in your present life which makes you feel you are very restricted or that you do not have enough freedom?

Oh, I’m well aware of the reasons. It’s my fear of commitment, attachment, and rejection. We always want what we can’t have, don’t we? My life is very restricted. I’m taking care of my nephews and trying to help my family, and sometimes I just want to leave. Sometimes I want that more than anything. I know where I’m needed, though, and that’s why it’s so impractical.

Maybe I’ll do it someday, but it’s nowhere in the near future.

I can understand that your family needs you, but you have a responsibility towards yourself as well. Even if you can’t do it for as long as you want, cant you may be take a week off every two months and just go away?

No car, not enough money, too many responsibilities. It would be irresponsible. Maybe I’ll get to it someday, actually make it happen, but now’s just not the time. I don’t want to end up like that old guy in UP, who just kept putting things off until he was old and alone, but I’m still young. I’m only twenty. I have plenty of time for adventure, and who knows? Maybe I’ll find someone who shares my dream and can take them with me.

That’s a nice thought. And twenty is really too young to give up on, I am sure things would work out for the best soon.
But your responsibilities are really taking a toll on your life, you sounded much older in the post. Do take care of yourself and all the best! :)
