When you close your eyes you can’t.
When it’s cloudy overcast you can’t.
When you’re not actually looking at them you can’t.

I know about when it’s cloudy lol I probably should’ve said… It’s sorta based on religion in a way I was thinking that it’d be cool if it was a bit different so that the people think their God destryed the stars etc. :L Was there ever a long time when it was cloudy in specific religious books or summat? Probs not I guess…

No… Despite misconceptions, people in general are (were) reasonably intelligent. They wouldn’t have attributed the fact that they couldn’t see the stars to God when a bit of cumulonimbus was in the way.

So you want to write a fictional book featuring the results of an act of God.

Interesting.

ehh - kinda. lol I know i don’t sound like a write atm but i cba to type tbh xD one of the protagonists(from the blurb>>”Soon after joining the Brotherhood, Nathaniel becomes injured and is delivered to the infirmary by the friars. His condition worsens and one morning his bed is found empty.”)has retrograde amnesia and lots of other “problems” cba to explain soz :P

Another extract: “…barbarians – but I was no better. What I had done in a previous lifetime was inexcusable by the merciful Lord Himself.
I was no savage. Yes, that much is true but after the sinful crimes I had committed, I deserved no forgiveness.
I lay there a while, thinking. It was unaware to me how long I’d stayed here. Nor was I aware how long ago I’d left my apprenticeship with the Brotherhood of Jah. There were so many things left to do for which I needed their blessing- although it would’ve done no good despite their noblest of efforts.
I mean - at the time, it never occurred to me. At the time, I thought that I’d done no wrong. However, my naiveté was soon corrected because it was already too late. I’d missed my opportunity to make things right and to make things better; To ensure that my feeble soul was away from Satan’s reach; To plead for Yahweh’s forgiveness of my mighty sins.”
^ but he hasn’t done a thing.

Then later, “I stared up at the empty sky. I was wishing and pleading for a sign from Yahweh.
Just a star. Just one star. Please. That’s all I want. Where’ve all the stars gone? What’ve you done?
There was no star and there was no sign.”

etc. soz for slow reply btw - I was pre-occupied :)

You may find inspiration in the works of Immanuel Velikovsky. Some of his theories may work well with your idea.

Here’s two links. The first one is down for some reason, but hopefully it’ll be back as it was his complete archive - a wealth of knowledge!
The second I know less, but it has plenty to keep you busy by way of reference.

Astronomy help anyone?

Greetings! I’m writing a book and I was wondering if there’s ever a time when you can’t see the stars? Or maybe if there’s a disorder/condition which means you can’t see them? Thanks in advance!

Bet– x
