Feel help: Give me a reason to not SI. - Help.com

Give me a reason to not SI.

I want to right now, and I see no reason why not to. Sure, there are scars, but nobody can see them, and I do it where I wont hit any important arteries… and it makes me feel better…. so why not?

Oh. If you’re looking for a reason, that’s a good reason. It means you have some motivation to not do it. (You’re actively asking for reasons to not do it, which is a pretty good sign that you want to not do it.)

Because you’re on help.com asking us to tell you not to.
So you don’t want to.

Also, it doesn’t help anything.
Whatever makes you need to feel better is not going to go away because you “SI”.

I just want to know why everyone else wants to stop so bad. There are so many people who are looking to stop with counseling, etc. I may want to stop a little bit, but I would rather have relief… why doesn’t everyone else?

Personal thought:
It’s because there’s something inherently wrong with it that everyone realizes.

Analysis thought:
It leaves scars that people regret looking at later, and after long enough they realize that cutting doesn’t actually bring real relief.
Compare to alcohol.

Because in the end it just makes everything worse. I can promise you that. You get to the point where no matter how much you want to stop you just can’t. You start to withdraw yourself from everyone and you lose everyone that you care about and that may care about you. Even after you stop the pain and urges still linger sometimes. Even after you stop the thought still lingers in the back of your mind. You find out that it’s not worth it. Trust me.

That’s why you work at it.

Considering the fact that your razor is a piece of metal and has absolutely no feeling, I care for you more than the razor.

Because it becomes the problem rather than a solution to anything. Imaging if your one solution for everything was something that injures or hurts you? Then life is pure pain, and it’s human nature to try to avoid pain and seek pleasure.

Because I am me.
My roommate thinks I’m crazy.

I want you to be happy because my dream is for the world to be happy.
And just making one person happy is one step forward.

Also, I sympathize. That’s why I’m on help.com.

WILL YOU CRUSH MY DREAMS THUSLY?!?!
Sad day.

I am sorry you cannot accept my cyber-kindness.

And I hope that one day you will find something more important that petty instant gratification, and it will help you stop cutting.

we cant give you a reason.
stop looking for external fixes, because they dont work and in the end will only ever leave you feeling empty. you need to work on building your OWN coping mechanisms and find out what works for YOU, not others.
at the end of the day, its not our responsibility to give you reasons. its yours to find your own, and your choice if you do it or not.
youll want to stop when you hit rock bottom, eventually.

there are plenty more cutting implements in the world, getting rid of the tool isnt going to fix the behaviour. you NEED to learn new coping skills.
