What to do with old trophies?
I hated playing softball. I have several softball trophies, however, and I really want to get rid of them. I don’t want to throw them away, though. What can I do with them?
Remove the name plates and sell them? Turn them into art? Give them away? I just want to get rid of them without throwing them away!
Ideas?

I think I lost mine. Put them in a box and put it in the attic.
depending on what they are made of you could melt them down and sell for scrap or just do one of your ideas
aww, I wish I had a trophy. I havent done anything trophy worthy.
shine em up, get some bubble wrap & a big plastic tote
You know rubbermaid with a lid that seals
I did this for the guy I help, he had tons
of “Red Wing” Pottery, who really cares, I didn’t
I wasn’t impressed.
Anyways I wrote down what it was wrapped each peice in bubble wrap
(don’t use newspaper, tacky)Had 6 totes full of the crap
made 2 lists 1 for the box & 1 to keep in a drawer

Did he do anything with it or just store it? I really want to get this stuff out of the house.
It’s just stored in the basement.
But in those totes up in a closet in the back will keep it safe and out of the way.
Do you have grandparents who could hold the totes

No, at least not in the state. I don’t have closet space. I don’t have basement space (the basement floods). I don’t have space upstairs. I have no attic. My house is so cluttered that I literally want to get rid of these things. I’m quite proud of my horseback riding, show choir, and other trophies, but I hated softball.
Right now i’d suggest to pack them away in totes
just so you don’t lose them
put them in the bottom of your closet or on top
work on getting the rest cleaned.
You could always use the totes as end tables or night stands

Good suggestions, but I think I’ll first try eBay, then freecycle, then donation. :-)
Raspberry, I think we talked long time ago, I had helped a church friend
clear a couple rooms in her house. She is/was a hoarder. I had come back and just ranted, i only saw houses like that on TV. My word i was just amazed.
She had boxes (empty) everywhere. The one time i helped, her husband was home.
She blamed the boxes on him, when i asked did he need em?? we cleared out so many to the burn pile.
I havn’t gone to her house in a while, snow and all here.
On the one day her husband and i got half the kitchen and
the office cleared. Really wondering how it looks now??
Sorry just felt like talking, thank you

I hope it still looks good! Hoarding is an addiction, though, so it might not.

I’m curious if anyone accepted them. I wonder how many things like this get packed away, moved from one house to another, inherited from one generation to the next, and ultimately deposited in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.
I didn’t try, actually. :-D They’re still in my room.

Ha. Well, at least you’re honest about it. You should leave this post open. I’m going to add a reminder to my iCal to ask about it again one year from today.
If you have the time to spend on this project, I read an idea a few years ago. Take individual pictures of each trophy and then remove the engraved plaque on it. After developing the pictures, place the picture and its accompanying plaque in a picture album. That way you can still see what you had and the accomplishment that it was earned for. THEN, choose your recycle method.
I have considered taking off the faceplates and framing those in a shadow Box or frame. Still have the memory but not all the boxes!
