Hairy Arms; Please help.

Hi, I’m a 15 year old girl and I have problems with my hairy arms. I have dark brown hair and I’m really self consious. In sixth grade, I got made fun of alot, and sixth graders are pretty young, so it bothered me alot. I decided to shave my arms, and I did so. People noticed that I shaved my arms once and I got made fun of that too. I would wear my sweatshirt during class when it was really hot, and no matter how warm I would get, I always kept that sweatshirt on because I didn’t want to get made fun of. In seventh grade, I got made fun of a few times and people we’re always pointing it out to me that I had hairy arms. I kept wearing sweatshirts so I people wouldn’t notice. In eighth grade, nothing really happened. I guess a few times people pointed it out, but not too much. Now I’m a freshman and no one has really pointed anything out to me, but I’m still really self consious. It’s so embarrassing for me. I’ve tried shaving, waxing, bleaching with peroxide, and just anything I could do at home. I would really like the help. And you don’t have to tell me to accept it or whatever. Just please let me know what I could do. (:

I guess I agree, but it just lowers my self esteem.

yeh that it may well do but it happens to us all and we just have to find ways to pick our selfs up - but the more you try to hide it / cover it up the more it will be noticed and if they see that it gets to you then theres possibility that theyll make a bigger deal out of it hence why i say go out there and be proud for who and what you are etc

You could try laser. It’s painful and expensive, but after 7 or 10 sessions the hair will be almost gone. Most of the time it works, unless your hair problem is due to too much testosterone. Check out if it’s genetic, hormonal or both. Then try lasser.

I think that it was the worst idea to shave. I would use a lotion like the ones on this site. I know it says for legs, but there are lots and i use them for my arms too. :D

Have you talked to your parents about it at all? If your mom is the same way then she could probably help you figure out how to deal with it.
Laser hair removal would probably be the most permanent solution, but it’s extremely expensive and painful. I know there are products that are supposed to make the hair grow in thinner over time. One is called Completely Smooth, but the idea is for you to wax or shave less, not stop doing it altogether. Here’s the website: http://www.completelybare.com/complet…

I’m not going to say just get over it because when I was in elementary school I knew a girl whose arms had more hair than the average fourth grader and it definitely made her really uncomfortable because kids can be so mean. But I also think that trying to hide it and get rid of it will never give you as much satisfaction as just being comfortable with your body.

I’m half Armenian, and a girl, I feel your pain. I’ve been shaving the lower half of my arms since I was 9(now 23, still do it) and I noticed that all the other girls arms were as dark or hairy as mine.
If it make you uncomfortable to have the hair, keep shaving your arms and the kids will stop noticing. trust me.

Im twelve, I have this problem.
It hurts so much when people make fun of you for your natural body.
I haven’t done anything about it, but i wear a jacket always-even if it’s hot, [i live in puerto rico, its always hot n_n'’]
and now people dont tell me much about it, but I hate it when my parents say its sexy, because it’s not.
I wish I could rip them off >.>
