I am a jazz pianist; I went to college and got my degree in jazz performance.

Can you please give me inputs and advise - How can I make a good living as a jazz musician? Any jazz musicians out there, making a living in New York City?? Thank you.

Have you thought about teaching, as a start?

Join a band, no offense but jazz bands dont really get far in todays society. Join a rock band. Alotta rock bands out there wouldnt mind having a jazzy edge to them. It attracts listeners and people love exotic bands like that. I play drums and used to have 2 different garage bands but had to quit because I had a child. I also play a little bit of piano, ever heard of Canon or Moonlight Sonata? But i would love to have a band mate thats a pianist or violinist, or saxophone player or something. Ever heard of The Smashing Pumpkins, or A Perfect Circle, or Bush? Those are some great rock bands with some violin and piano in some of their songs. Evanescence is another band(though i personally dont like them.) Some bands even have the harmonica in ‘em. So try it out and maybe ill hear you on the radio some day.
