What to do about bad-mouthing co-worker?
I work at a coffee shop, and the employees there are pretty clique-y. I’ve been there for a while now, but I’m still not “in” the group (I’ve got friends but not w/ all of them). One person in particular is so immature and mean…she excludes me from conversations, runs interference when other co-workers talk to me, goes out of her way to avoid me, and bad-mouths me (sometimes while I’m in the same room). I’ve been nothing but civil with her, but it won’t stop. She’s a shift supervisor, so it’s a little awkward. I can’t really leave this place at the moment, at least not for a few months, but it’s getting really old dealing with her high school behavior (yet she’s older than me). I don’t know how to deal with this person on a daily basis; she creates such a toxic environment that I dread working while she’s there. How do you deal with someone like this when you can’t leave your job?
