Ever since a repair in the fan, my computer sound is completely gone.

Even the INITIAL BEEP SOUND during the booting is NOT heard anymore. (It may be possible that the mechanic removed some essential part). Some people suggest that the mechanic may have stealthily taken away the IC without which the sound apparatus goes dysfunctional. Does anyone have any idea?
