Yeah - I haven’t watched the kids version - it may be going a step to far for kids
it’s good they’re helping but i think they’re too young for it to be all over tv expecialy for the 13 yr olds it’s on channel 4 at 8pm i bet all their class mates see
They did do an interesting experiment with 6, 9 and 12 year olds. Half of the 6 year olds saw them selfs as bigger then they actually where. I think i was 60% for the 9yr olds and just over 70% for the 12 yr olds
shocking really

Its the society we live in - it puts so much pressure on them - when really they should be enjoying their childhood (the shortest and sometimes best times of our lives).
amazing how impressionable young children are to the adult world really

I know! they are in such a hurry to grow up! I remember I was too! But I remember a quote and I have come to realise its true - you only have a little while to be a child and the rest of your life to be an adult
I wish someone had forced me to enjoy more of my childhood :P By the time i was 9 i was overwhelmed by the idea of growing up and now i want nothing more but to go back to being small!!
if only i could go back and tell myself this now :P lol

It’s never too young to start, when children as young as 8 and 9 are being treated for anorexia in inpatient treatment centers.

How very true - but maybe because there was so much focus on their weight and outer appearance in the first place
anorexia and bulimia are very rarely about looks or anything to do with appearance it their core. It is about a total and utter terror of lacking control in ones life and a desperate attempt to make sense of emotion.
It actually has very little to do with appearance or weight at all, those are just the manifestations of self hatred.
There are theories about that those with eating disorders are born pre-disposed to them-as in, we have wiring in us that makes us susceptible to such an illness, much like schizophrenia or certain types of cancer can be heritable.
Those children victims of this illness lend strong weight to this argument, because many of them have never been exposed to such media hype, nor had the time to soak in the societal values surrounding weight, they are simply driven from a very young age to control themselves in such an extreme manner.
At the core of this illness is fear and control, not too much looking at skinny girls in magazines.
I think there’s a separate less serious disorder that is starting to pop up based solely on looks vanity and low self esteem that is driven by the media and piers
anorexia is completely separate to the desire to be skinny in my eyes
I think there are young children who are influenced by how there parents talk about themselves and by the media as well as children who are born with a genetic difference thingy that makes them susceptible

I agree I mean we live in a world where the fashion industry thought it ok to design thongs for 7 year olds, and when I was a pre-teen there was a fashion to wear tops and t-shirts(designed for teens) with wh*re and similar words on them. We live in a world where Playboy has its own brand of school stationery and accessories aimed at under aged girls - thee is something very unhealthy about our society which is bound to have a damaging affect on young impressionable minds. I agree they are two separate seemingly related issues but both very real and serious.
