So I spent the morning and half the afternoon in the emergency room
I had had a horrible buzzing in my ear and really bad dizzy spells and couldn’t get an appointment with my doctor. They have told me it could be tinnitus which I have to get confirmed on Tuesday with the ENT guy.
I feel really awful, has anyone else had this? From what I understand it’s incurable and it’s just something you just have to suffer through. Do 30 year olds really get this??
I sobbed all the way driving home, I thought after the most horrific year and a half things were finally getting better for me. I was trying to stay positive and hopeful about the future but something always seems to be there to remind you that hell no you will never happy no matter how hard you try.
I’m just so done, I already live daily with an incurable disease (epilepsy) and now I have to endure another one along with everything else. I feel like I’ve been punched in the stomach and like someone is reminding me that I’m not worth happiness.
When is it time to stop trying? When is it time to realise that being upbeat and positive just ensures you fall further?
I just wanted to rant anyway…so thanks for listening if you’ve read this.

Sweetie, join the mulitple disabilities brigade. I’ve got 4 and possibly heading for my 5th. Remember I wrote regarding the interview where I had to do a tour, will I did the tour and was unable to walk, yes unable walk for 2 days! I hobbling around now. May have triggered disability No.5. Going to have it checked on Monday. Believe me, once you get to three disablities it gets better. LOL.
On a serious note, every illness is it’s worst once you are diagnosed. Now you have to explore the options available. There is still a possiblity it is not this, so enjoy that while it lasts. I am sure there are many effective treatments which will help you deal with it. Barbara Streisand has it and has managed to develop a beautiful singing voice with it. I really do not know much about it but the next port of call is looking for a charity that deals with it. I found these guys, http://www.tinnitus.org.uk/ log on to the site, ring the freephone number, read the blogs and check out some of the treatments and become a member. It helps. Be proactive and take it on the chin. I am very informed on all my current 4 disabilites and am learning about the 5th, which I may not have, but probably do. It is not the end of the world. It’s boreing, it’s a drag, disabilities can take over your life but only if we let them. On a positive note, they can make you more organised and determined. That certainly happened to me. So get the act together and just face whatever you have or haven’t got. You can do it!
people live with tinnitus.
it can occur at young ages especially if there has been damage from too many loud noises (gunfire, loud music-concerts or ipods, jet engines)
I know it seems awful..but you can live life with tinnitus…protect the hearing you have…check out the tinnitus organization in the above response.
Good luck to you

Yes, you are not alone in this one.
I have tinnitus and Meniere’s Syndrome…which causes the terrible dizziness.
I take a drug called Antivert to get a grip on the dizziness, whenever it creeps up.
My tinnitus is so bad that I cannot even BEAR to be in a totally quiet enviromnent.
I have to keep a machine on that plays “white noise”…
If it is tooooo quiet, the tinnitus gets very very harsh and loud.
Loud ringing, and yes some buzzing.
As the others have said, we just have to learn to live with our disabilities.
Sometimes it can be quite a burden…but there are people who have it alot worse, I promise.
Well, please take care of yourself, ok?
If you ever just want to rant, give me a shout…I’ll hear ya…even on top of the ringing noise!! :o)
Good Luck, 30T!! Peace….

Thank God you corrected the typo, did not make sense. LOL
also it can be a interaction between your optic nerves and ears and
neck balance centers. Also curable with a set of exercises.
Ear specialist can give you a sheet of exersises for this.

yes I hope so too.I helps to know there are solutions and easy ones at that.
Hi guys and thank you so much for the responses and they have made me feel better :) I have since ended my little pity party :)
It was just such a shock…I thought it was just going to be a little ear infection or something and they would give me tablets and off I would be on my merry little way. I never knew too much about tinnitus and thought it was just something old people got…ah you pay the price for ignorance!
Plus when I was coming out of the hospital my £10 note got stuck in the car park machine…I could have ripped the thing apart with my bare hands LOL!!
Anon - thank you for the link - I will definately keep that and for the kind words. I know I’m a fighter and I’ve endured some of lifes hardest pains but I think you need that little down moment before you can grab onto something and haul yourself back up! :) I’m so sorry to hear about the interview, did you get any feedback at all after the interview and how it actually went? I am really proud of you for going though and I love the positive attitude you have so thank you :)
Z-Anon - thanks, my goodness Im wondering was it my Ipod now? The guy did ask me if I’d had any head trauma…if its my Ipod Im suing Apple lol! Im not listening to heavy metal…its Michael Buble and Garth Brooks flip sake :)
Cara - your post did make me smile for the first time today! I imagined us talking to each other shouting like two old grannies to hear over the ringing! :D Absolutely I know people have it worse…and thats what I always try to tell myself, theres ALWAYS someone worse off than myself. I will shout u sometime if you dont mind :)
Spiratec - I thought you were taking the mick until you corrected your typo lol! But yes I guess it could realistically be a whole range of things and the ENT guy will know more than an emergency room doctor.
Thanks again…Im really pleased I posted and I guess I should believe what I tell other people…that God only challenges those people he thinks can handle it :)
I’m away for some chocolate…:)
Glad to hear you’re back and thriving 30Thriving, Spiratec typo was hilarious, typing upside down on a special chair, hilarious and totally inappropriate in the circumstances and even funnier now. It’s early days and may still clear up. I got something out of the interview ie a sense that idiots don’t phase me anymore and I’ll chase them soon but I really can’t be bothered, I’m focusing on the next interview and hopefully this one will not include a 1 hour and 10 minute tour. I had look at the website and I’m interested in the nature sounding alarm clocks and you should check out the ‘white noises’ machine Cara talks of, only if necessary. Anyway whatever it is, you can deal with it. As Cara says, there are many worst off than we are. At least we still have our sanity! LOL.
I’m sorry to hear that you have another stress to deal with; I will pray that you feel better and that things work out for the best.
anon-after 5 hours in the emergency room i just about have my sanity lol! borrow some of yours?? :D very best of luck with the next interview!
pepper-thanks hun :) x

Lol…seriously…you can shout me any time!!!
And you have to shout for me to hear you…:op
Any time…ok????
:o)
Thank you for being my new friend…
Peace and love….always….
Its never time to stop being up beat and positive, just as its never time to quit! I am so sorry this has happened to you! But you are a person that lives with Epilepsy and possibly tinnitus. You are not these conditions. These conditions are not you - the are something you live with. Its important to gain perspective. i am in no way belittling or dismissing your conditions but as hard as it is its important to search for and find the silver lining. These conditions are unpleasant but for the most part they are not fatal! You can cope with this. It may be hard, but I know your strength :) If you ever need a shoulder to lean on you know how to find me. It is also possible that your conditions are worsened (as are most things) by stress. So I would urge you to find ways to de-stress. Such as yoga, dance, a counsellor, spa sessions, anything and everything that helps you to relax. And we both know its how we think about a situation that affects the way we feel. Stop thinking about these conditions as “diseases” that very term sounds horrible and hopeless and thats how you are making yourself feel. These conditions are not pleasant, but also they are not the end of the world. You have both eyes to take in the beauty all around you. Despite the tinnitus you still have your hearing to take in the joy in the laughter of good friends and beautiful music. You have both legs to walk, wander and run to any part of this beautiful Earth you may please. You have both arms to lift and carry, the beautiful treasures of this world, to throw out the baggage, and to hold loved ones close. You have a noise to smell all the beautiful succulent delights this world can offer, like products from Lush, chocolate, freshly baked delicacies, spring flowers, the familiar scent of loved ones and so on and many more faculties besides! While you still have all these faculties, even if life only leaves you with one - its not time to quit! Remember baby you were not built to break! Who are we? Were warriors baby! Research these conditions and learn how to overcome - do not let them overwhelm or get the best of you! You’re more powerful, beautiful and stronger than that!
For you:
Research it! Dont let it beat you! Find your fight ok?!

Ah, was just a crap day - and it was something I just wasnt expecting at all!

Just would like a smile day instead of a frown day, ya know??
*sigh* BUT…I did go and buy my stuff for my new course today to cheer myself up :) Highlighters, pens or post its anyone?? :p
xx
Just an update went to the physio and I haven’t got disabiity no 5. Yippeeeee. I usually walk 20 minutes around the block twice each day with a least a 30 minute break in between. The employer made me walk for 1 hour and 10 minutes with a few minutes breaks and therefore my physio says my body was not use to it. If I needed to walk 1 hour and 10 minutes continuous (which I don’t for my profession), I would have to work at it by adding an additional 1 minute a day to my walking. So that’s all it is. Didn’t get the job. Got the feedback and it says I was not focused. I wrote back saying I was highly medicated on account of doing the tour and I am happy that he thought my performance was satisfactory because I really can’t remember much of what the interview was about. LOL.
Anyways, I’m on the mend and wiser. So 30Thriving, if you have it, you’ve cried over having it. If you haven’t got it, give thanks and enjoy. Whatever life is going to throw at us, we just have to take it on. Hope you haven’t got it. I’ve been thinking about Cara and I hope she has ‘good days.’ I hope she has relief and it is not always at its worst, like I do with my nonsense ailments. Keep us informed and I’m hoping you hear what I want you to hear tomorrow.
Well it’s their loss Anon and what a stupid thing to say in your feedback!
And at least number 5 has stayed at bay thats great! :D
Yep I know, just gota face things dont u? Well I am still keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow and hope it’s something simple.
Cara seems like a lovely lady and someone that has accepted her condition well. I suppose its a hard thing to explain to other people if you have it bad but she always seems to be in good spirits :)
Will update yas tomorrow…thanks anon or actually I will call you Maggie til you tell me your real name.
Thanks Maggie :p x
Hello, 30T…:o)
Just got online and stopped by to see my notices.
I read what you wrote and must say…Thank You…
You are such a sweetheart…^_^
I wish you allll the luck and love in this world…
Things will be ok, hun…I just know it…
Take care of yourself and let us know what happens, Ok???
*Hugggs for Luck*
Peace and Love…always…Cara
No problem Cara…I just speak the truth thats all :) *hugs* for you too! :)
Well I just got back from the hospital - the doctor is 99% sure it is fluid in the eustachian tube causing the tinnitus. She has given me 6 weeks of meds which should clear it up altogether!:) Phewie! :) Course there is that small 1% but wont worry about that til it happens!
Still have the buzzing but feeling alot better knowing what it is now…and that it is potentially a temporary thing. So we will see how things pan out over the next few weeks. Thanks for the support…love yas all :) xx
Congratulation 30Thriving. You’ve been stressed out over nothing for a few days. You must be feeling on top of the world. You saw the specialist today and these guys can diagnosis these conditions when they are drunk. They are usually 100% right so you’re clear. So enjoy your day and remember what Cara says, there are many a lot more worst off than all of us. Best wishes. ‘Maggie’ (not Thatcher).
Thanks, yeah I am feeling much better! If I ever see that emergency room doctor that scared the (email removed) outa me I will have him lol!
Absolutely people always worse off than us! Thanks Maggie :) x
