I found out I have gained 17 pounds today.
I got onto the scale and saw how bad it has become. I don’t understand why this is happening?! I haven’t been eating that much or that unhealthy. I haven’t been able to excersise because of the weather and my gym is too far away to run too. No busses go their either.
But now I have a car, and I plan on only eating raw vegetables. No milk, no wheat and no sugar. . .for a while. And then bring milk wheat and sugar to a very minimum back to my health. I have debated an eating disorder but I know the consiquences of it. . .and I know with diet and 5 days a week 3 hours a day excerise I can be 120 pounds. My dream weight. And hopefully I will finally feel good about myself.
the scale today was an insane reality check and I have never felt more physically disgusting. Ifeel if I gain anymore weight. . .my self worth will no longer exsist. I feel horrible. And it sucks.
Anyone got any advice to stay on track and not give in to emotional eating?

Keep yourself busy . I’m sorry you feel disgusting, but atleast you’re not on the alone boat when it comes to that *points to self* -hug-
Maybe it’s just salt, or maybe constipation…. water retention?
I think it might just be stress that’s making me gain weight. And it might be water. . .but 17 pounds?!
Any tips out there?
Okay. First of all. Don’t cut milk or wheat or sugar out of your diet because you NEED those to maintain homeostasis. Just don’t have too much of any of those. Just because someone eats only fruits and veggies, they can still gain weight. You need to exercise! Get your heart rate up! Start out small. First just a few minutes three times a week. Don’t overdo it, don’t do more than your body can handle. Then start increasing.
It can happen. When I got my period back, I gained almost 10 pounds & I got depressed over it so I didn’t eat anything or drink anything.
I spent the WHOLE day peeing O_o.
& HEY, regardless of how much you gain, you’re still worth it :)
if you only eat raw fruits and vegatables..you won’t feel better… the malnutrition alone will be enouch to cause you to be depressed… just try to incorperate more physical activity into your day. Take walks to do close by errands, take the stairs more often, go bowling or something physical as an outing rather than just out drinking and eating…. these little yhings on a daily basis can not only help you weight but can actually improve your mood :)
Or do some fun exercise! :d

If you ever have time read the book “Good Calories Bad Calories”. This book discusses the difference between the time and energy it takes your body to metabolize different kinds of food. It basically states that calories from sugars and carbohydrate metabolize the fastest, this means more energy faster but it also means that they will make you fat if you don’t exercise. Try to limit yourself to 20 carbohydrates per day and limit caloric intake to a level that meets your needs. I lost 84 pounds from following this model of eating. I also exercised hard at least 3 hours a week. My experience was about 5 lbs a week weight loss. Good luck!
I actually don’t go out drinking and have only been eating twice a day at the most. Everything I have been eating has been high in fibre, healthy sandwiches or salads. I’m just confused.
And I haven’t been able to be as active as I usually am because of all the freak snow. It sucks! But I went on a long bike ride and went out all day this week. I have also been walking everywhere as oppossed to driving. It’s just frusterating. I’m going to the gym in an hour or so. And shall be doing so 4-5 days a week.
I actually think I own that book on my book shelf. Or it might just be the giant book of calories. I’ll check. But I’ll look into that book! Thanks for the advice!
Good luck D:! & please don’t do anything bad for your health!
hopefully, the book will give you some ideas on how to improve your diet…. you know if you haven’t notice a significant gain like your cloths still fit the same.. the calibration of your scale might be off and exagerating the weight gain.
my clothes are definitly tighter. I feel disgusting.
oh, sometimes we just gain a little without noticing… don’t be so down on yourself… 17 pound does not a mountain make….bet you still look better than you think
I went to the doc today and apparently i have lost 30+ pounds in 2 weeks! i havent eaten much since monday because ive been sick but still thats not good (They reweighed me on 4 diffrent scales. same answer)
hey, I gained a lot of weight(for me con sidering I’m 5′3 and was rather fit from hiking and biking) this past year and I felt awful, but now I’m coming back down to the size I’m used to.. But what I realized when I paid attention to the way people responded to me was that no one thought I looked nearly as bad as I felt….so sometimes we just have to get outside ourselve a little to feel better… I hope you really can start to feel better soon
If you have problems with emotional eating, maybe stock up on healthy nibbles so when the urges do drive you to the fridge, you can eat but not have to worry about the weight. I like raw carrots for example :) Also, try other ways of getting it out of your system, like writing about whatever’s getting you down in a diary or something. I enjoy playing the piano so that’s a good way for me to pass time until I feel better, so find what you enjoy doing, maybe drawing or exercising or something, I dunno. Stuff like that is a good way to sort your thoughts out whilst concentrating on something else, so it’s not too intense.
Don’t beat yourself up too much about the weight gain, I think you’d be hard pressed to find anyone who hadn’t gained weight in their life (apart from the obvious growing up…). My other piece of advice is to not try to lose it too quickly, this could backfire and you may end up gaining more weight. Follow a sensible diet and don’t drastically cut out one food group dramatically, because you will find you will crave that kind of food more and more as your body needs it, and then you may just snap and ruin all your hard work :)
