Faith
Is there a point in following a faith if you don’t believe in eternal life?
I was raised Roman Catholic, yet have never been able to believe that I will end up in Heaven or Hell, even as a little kid. So should I really bother with it at all? I mean thats the only reason religion exists right? Cause people want something after death?
I’m religiously confused. :S

Religion is about choice, it’s up to you what you choose to believe in, whether you’ve been raised as one religion doesn’t mean you have to follow in those footsteps. Faith is all about believing in something, doesn’t necessarily have to be God but what ever you believe. I’m not religious but I believe in something more powerful, don’t question other beliefs better yet find your own and believe in that, that’s what faith is all about :) Hope this helps :)
I kinda still believe, or want to believe in the other stuff, Jesus, God, Mary etc. I just can’t accept the idea of eternal life. I just feel like i’m cheating everyone else going to church who believe they are working towards such a goal while I don’t share the belief.
and yeah, I know its kinda wrong terminology, but I didn’t want to just say religion and start a holy war here. >.

No not at all, I’m not religious anyway I find it fascinating how people are desperate for a religion and a voice to tell them how to live their lives. Your beliefs are your own no doubt about it, if you want to believe in Jesus that’s fine but you choose to believe in all that you can also choose to not believe in eternal life. You only believe the bits you want to, after all, it’s your belief and your life :)

12 But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13 If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. 14 And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. 15 More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised. 16 For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. 17 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. 18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. 19 If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.
I was afraid of that…
Its not that I don’t want to believe, eternal life would be great, I just have never been able to comprehend it…

First thing you don’t need a religion to beleive in a higher power
Secondly to the person who is showing the holes in the bible we all know that they are there it’s just a book writen to control people and that control is fading

Something after death is a fact beyond anyones power to sway. Some people accept it and run to it. Other’s (still knowing the facts), run away from it.
Either way. . .it’s comming.
This is the opinion of an atheist, so I apologize beforehand.
You do not need to understand every passage in the bible to believe in it’s teachings, just like you do not need to understand all the benefits of water to know that you need it; Also, you may not understand all of your constitutional rights but they all still apply to you.
If you believe in a higher power and you believe in your religion then you do not need to understand everything it has to offer you right now. It only becomes “pointless” when you no longer believe in an omnipotent being.
Ask God; say: “God if You are really there, please give me faith!”
And Jesus: “Jesus, it doesn’t seem like You are really there, please give me faith!”
Think about reading the bible to see what it really says.
You are an intelligent person; you should know what it says even on a scholarly level.
I think the New American Bible is an accurate translation that is easier to understand than most others. You can probably find it in a Catholic book store.
Make sure you have the right attitude, because he who has some faith will be given more, whereas, a cynical, disbelieving attitude will get you nothing.
People often wait until they are in a desperate situation to call out to God as a last resort. It is there God rescues them and they find faith.
Others reject God and ignore God throughout their whole lives, and then blame God for all the bad stuff that happens in the world and to them.
If they’d have only humbly asked God for forgiveness and faith; He would have answered them and shown them the way.
