I am from Australia and I have a very strong view on the boats. But I’m about to go to sleep! My opinion is based on facts, which basically show that of all the issues Australia has, this is one of the least. The boat people do not pose a threat, actually it’s coming from skilled immigrants. I think people should have more compassion and open their hearts and minds. We have plenty of room, 95% are genuine refugees, Australia gets 1% of the world’s refugees, and we have no right to be so judgemental when we are so privilaged. Anyway, happy to expand on this another time, but I’m going to sleep now!

What are your views.

270 000 immigrants a year is a huge number. i understand that they my have come from really unfortunate circumstances but no one just gets a free pass. if you turn up in a boat expect too be detained until your identity is proven. if we have plenty of room why are they jamming up all the urban centres. **** smith is right about lowering the intake of immigrants and having a sustainable population. the fact that we are getting the population of brisbane every 4 years is really quite scary.

Well, It does bother me but it doesnt. What bothers me is that Australia let in all these immigrants, and most are put at the front of the que for residency or whatever its called, well before other applicants who have been trying for years, and the crappy system make them go through all this red tape to gain citizenship, and yet these other people get it straight away. What really annoys me is that we give them shelter, food, safety etc and they go and wreck the place, setting it on fire and other stuff. All at Taxpayers dollar, its not fair, and in the paper today it saying basically those people running havoc ‘ will be reviewed’ to be possibly sent back, WHY the hell dont they just send them back, no wonder they try to escape their own country, yet try to create chaos it in ours already. It shows no respect for our country at all. Its quite rude to the Australian. We work hard enough for our money and having to pay tax to people who just basically wreck it in front of us. It makes me really mad!!!
