What sorts of ideas do you need and how much do you want to spend? Pearls are not cheap

What sort of pearl necklace are you looking for?

You do know that pearls are not cheap?

It would be a beautiful gift if you can afford it, but remember: most moms really only want your love (and unconditional obedience…LOL/JK)

Mikimoto are touted as some of the best pearls around…in the mid-range jewelry stores. I’m sure that if you go to a higher end store, there will be another “brand” that is better and more expensive

You need to ask to see the pearls and then roll them on the counter top gently. If they roll as one unit, they are strung very well. If there are kinks and they roll in an “awkward” fashion, they are not strung as well

You need to look at the quality of the pearl…luminescense is what you are striving for…to get the best.

Ask the jeweler if you can look at a couple of different strands. If you look closely, you will see that some are gray-ish and some are…well, pearly

The only thing i know about pearls is to test them whether they are TRUE PEARLS or not, that is take a pearl and try to scratch it with your teeth, if the polish gets scrapped off, it is fake and if it doesn’t it is true, so be careful you don’t get the fake ones.

Yes, this is VERY important. And that’s why you should not buy the cheapest pearls from a flying dealer or so. To be sure pay a bit more at recognized jeweller’s.
