My hp pivilion a1213w cd-rw-dvd-ron combo drive doesn’t read, or reconize cd, or dvd’s how can I trouble shoot it.

I called hp and waited over an hour on hold, just so they could sell me a 1 year warranty for $100 or $119, and charge an additional $49 for over the phone help! any sugestions?

well, i tryed a DVD today, and the drive will read that! It still doesn’t want to read a cd or a software cd! I’ve ran all over these troubleshooting programs the computer give’s you. They keep running me in cyrcles. I’ll try your website see if that helps. The computer says that the driver working properly. I’ve tryed downloading new updates for it, but there is none right now!
