Do you think it’s weird/ugly to wear boots to a graduation ceremony?

I’m a girl and about 5′1, but I don’t own any high heels, so this black boots is the only choice I have…I can go out and buy high heels but I’m not used to wearing them so I’m afraid that I’ll slip and fall or something.

I can’t find any exact picture for my boots but here are two pics. my boots are more like the first picture but more leathery like the second.

Oh, my graduation gown is black and I’m going to be wearing my graduation gown the whole time. I know that other girls are probably going to be wearing shorts/skirts inside which will show their legs, so if I wear my boots, I’m going to be all in black. So would it look ok?

I also have another black ankle boots that looks similar to this but without heels, my mom said I should wear this one, but since I’m a short person, I don’t feel that comfortable wearing this one…plus I feel like my gown is going to drag the floor even though it’s about 2-3 inches above the floor.

Use the one with heels. Would look nicer in the gown, and for about the dress hanging low, gotta pick it up and carry like you would do in a long dress. :)

Wear what you are most comfortable in! Boots are cool… feel good about that choice. And congratulations graduate!

I wouldn’t wear long boots to a graduation … I think it would look a bit odd … black long boots with a black gown … I’d go with the ankle boots. But like IFHMondays said … whatever you feel comfortable wearing. I didn’t feel comfortable in heels so I wore sandals to my graduation :) lol

Good luck and Congrats!!

I’d wear the ankle boots with heels…unless you don’t feel comfortable. I wore my tennis shoes to my graduation, partly because I’m preg and had surgery on my knee and with the comb of those two things, I did not want to risk tripping :)

I wore flats at my graduation that were “dressy”. I don’t think wearing boots would be the best. Black flats shouldnt be too hard to find and that way you can take out that huge chance of tripping in heels

i think you should get some cute flats, or new shoes with a small heel. boots are WAY too clunky to wear under a graduation gown. boots are supposed to go with very feminine clothing so they will balance out, but a grad gown is pretty shapeless to begin with. i think sunshine’s idea is the best. :)

or something feminine looking, like this: http://hakkagirlz.com/37-161-large/cu…

Well, it certainly is unique. You may also catch some strange looks from people (in the least), or some stupid comments or whatever. As long as you’re not gonna get in trouble with the coordinators of the ceremony, administrators, faculty, etc., I’d say do what you want.
