Where were you?
You can also watch events on Help.com as they happen
I think one of mine is “Just because you can do something, dosen’t mean you should.”
Live and Learn and Live Again. Slight variation on the try try again. because somethings just weren’t meant to be.
there’s another but i can’t think of it at the moment. if i do I’ll post it.
Well my sister gave me advice in High School every High Schooler should know
It doesn’t matter who is your friend in HS or who isn’t or if you’re popular or not because once you are out of HS those people are gone and forgotten
tis true
You have to take care of yourself to be able to take care of others.
I can’t remember exactly where this comes from, I’m sure someone will point it out soon enough,
It’s not a piece of advice anyone gave me, I think its from a book?
Feel the fear and do it anyway.
That one’s been really useful over the years ;)
Well, the advice that has been most valuable to me personally is not the most valuable advice to give to a random person, but here are a few things I think everyone should know. I don’t want to say just one.
1. Be optimistic. I won’t go to anymore detail here, but here’s a good site to visit: http://crushpessimism.com/
2. Be open about your feelings. This is not exactly a problem for most of the people who visit this site, but it’s still something everyone should know. I used to be ridiculously secretive. I had various big psychological problems for a period of four years, and now that they’re all over, I think my main problem was that I kept all my feelings to myself.
3. Set realistic life goals for yourself.
There’s also a quote from Aristotle that I loved using a lot
“I have gained this by philosophy: that I do without being commanded what others do only from fear of the law.” - Aristotle

It is a book, my mum has it!
The tragedy of life is not that it ends so soon, but that sometimes we wait so long to start living it
It is a book, my mum has it![/quote]
Haha then it is from a book! The front cover no less… BRILLIANT!
My favourite quote is one I posted a few days ago though:
Risk more than others think safe
Dream more than others think practical
Care more than others think wise
Desire more than others think is possible
…And the universe is yours

Yep!! Good advice too!
Hehe Katie! That reminds me very much of something I have on my fridge in magnet form!
dance as though no one is watching you,
love as though you have never been hurt before,
sing as though no one can hear you,
live as though heaven is on earth. - souza

I love that!! I think my sister read that to me once!!
My fridge has:
Why Worry!
There are only Two things to worry about,
Either you are well or you are sick.
If you are well there is nothing to worry about,
But if you are sick there are two things to worry about,
Either you will get well or you will die.
If you get well there is nothing to worry about,
If you die, there are only two things to worry about,
Either you will go to heaven or to hell.
If you go to heaven, there is nothing to worry about,
But if you go to hell you will be so busy shaking hands
With friends you won’t have time to worry!
I have a new quote to pass on :)

I think the Dalai Lama got it right when he said, “If you don’t love yourself, you cannot love others. You will not be able to love others. If you have no compassion for yourself then you are not able of developing compassion for others.”

I like this one.

It might be possible to love others even if you don’t love yourself. But it’s true that if you don’t know how to make yourself happy, you’re not likely to know how to make others happy. The two are largely the same.

One of your top replies was about how the person should love themselves in order to love others. (I’m such a creepster, I know.) So, in that post you basically agreed with the quote made by the Dalai Lama.

Love this one.
The beginning of wisdom consists in realizing that you really don’t know much.
I know its not very inspirational, but it really keeps me on my toes in terms of constantly questioning and being open to everything life has to offer.
